Battery charge light up

Battery light in dash board light. I have change battery, alternator, problem remains and the car will not charge.

I have a 2001 ford focus Zx3, and my battery light is illuminated in the dash. It first lit up about two months ago. Then I started having a problem with the battery going dead. I changed the terminals for my battery cables and then a new problem started. Now my car will not idle right and when driving around town when pulling up to stop lights or stop signs when I put my car in neutral it dies... I have had my alternator and battery checked and they were both good. The battery is brand new... The weird thing is I always thought to check the alternator you can just start the car and pull off one of the battery cables and if the car dies the alternator is bad but if it stays running the alternator is good... anyone have an idea of what else could be my problem?
