in 1981 and 1982 a number of Fairmont/Zephyrs were

syphoned off to the National Coach Products Co.

for conversion to a Ranchero-like vehicle called the DURANGO.

The total number of vehicles syphoned off remains unclear, even to the producer.

This is to solicit VIN info in order establish a better idea of how many Ford Fairmont Durango

models were actually produced.

Please forward the last 8 (eight) digits of the VIN of any Durango conversion you know in order to establish a more reliable estimate of the production total for all of us. Feel free to add info or thoughts as you may wish. Perhaps we may see fit to establish a registry depending upon the response.

Have purchased a "Durango" #8K93F150402 . I know very little about this Durango designation or even how to tell if it is the real thing. Is there any archive of production numbers.This a 1978 model and the original owner had two of them. Present owner has had it since 96. Any info would be appreciated. I know they were produced by a coach company in California and since have gone out of business.
