exssesive rear axle pinion free play/backlash

I have an '07 F-350 with only 20, 000 miles and it seems to have a lot of rear axle pinion to ring gear free play. When you let off the accelerator and then depress it again especially at highway speeds it shakes/jars/jerks the whole truck. I have compared it to other trucks at the dealer and friends and mine is looser than theirs. The dealer wont give me a tolerance to compare but they say mine is ok. I feel its rather exssesive if not scary? Help or sugestions?
