Figured it out, just thought i would let you know what it was. The problem was i was not holding pressure on the high oil pressure pump and regulator, replaced them everything works fine now. dave

2002 F350 will not start... It will engage the starter. The fuse is fine and both batteries are at 12.68V.What has happened? Out of the blue?

I installed a new starter on my 2000 Ford F350 (7.3 Powerstroke Turbo Diesel). It started fine several times. However the next time I started the truck, the starter kept spinning after the engine started. After I noticed that it was continuing to run, I shut the engine off (via the ignition key), but it kept spinning. Before I could run and get a tool to disconnect the battery or relay, the starter had gone up in smoke, and I assume is now burned up (it would not start after cooling down).I have checked to make sure the wires that connect to starter mounted solenoid are not touching. What caused this? A bad relay? A defective starter (i.e solenoid)? A problem with the ignition key mechanism? Something else? I can understand how the starter would continue to spin, while the engine is running, if the starter gear failed to retract after the engine started. But this would not explain why it would continue to spin after the ignition key was shut off. Wouldn't it have to continually be receiving electricity to continue to spin after the engine was shut off?

I have a 2000 ford f350 7.3 I put a water pump on and every sense then I had. A little noise to it and seemed it lost a little power but ran but now it is hard to start and when it does start it misses but I can drive it down the road and after a minute when j get going it will clear up and take off but when I slow down to a lower rpm it starts white smokeing and missing again I was told it was head gaskets so put new head gaskets on and still the same problem but it seems even harder to start and when it does start it will only rev up to 1500 rpm and when u let off of it it will die. So it has me puzzled so if any ideas they would b greatly appreciated thank. You.

I have a 2000 F-350 7.3 Liter Diesel with the automatic shift on the fly. The four wheel drive worked fine last winter. I went to use it once this summer and it did not engage and the light did not come on the dash. I found a fuse that was blown, replaced it but nothing happened. Any ideas?

I have a 2000 ford that starts really rough. Sometimes it might take a good 30 secs of turning over before it starts. Then after it starts it shakes and shutters untell i floor it. Then it blow a giant cloud of black smoke and runs just fine. Any idea why it starts so rough and takes so long to start. the cold weather seem to make it worse and tomorrow i am changing the relay on the glow plugs but that shouldnt have anything to do with the shaking and missing feeling at the beginning. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, i have a 2003 ford f350 with the 7.3 liter diesel. It only has 98, 000 miles on it and giving me problems. the truck eats antifreeze and it is coming out of the exhaust. and there is some in the oil! the truck is off the road, but it runs great. I have been told by many that i either need new head gaskets, or new heads and gaskets. should i be looking for more signs or maybe somthing else that would cause this. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou so much!
