I have a 2003 F250 7.3 liter disel, some times it will sputter and then it is fine. To night it lost all power, stoped and put into park and started it again no(auto)prolbem. Get the same gas from the same place every time. Could it be a water filter prolbem? Had the fule filter changed, with it's service.Don't know what else it could be? If you know let me know?
I have a 2008 F250 diesel that was a year old in FEB and whenever it rains and I try to accerlerate it does not have the power to pass another vehicle or when I tow my horse trailer or boat in the rain it will begin missing badly. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times for this and they cannot find anything wrong and it will not cause a light for the computer to find an error. The condition is the engine will bigin to flutter as it is on 3 cylinders and I can stop and it will clear until I push the pedal in to the passing gear. I need help from FORD. Anybody out there have the same problem?????????HELP!!
Dave - Sounds like the Cam Position Sensor (Ford calls this a CMP Sensor and International calls it a CAMP Sensor) The symptom is as you are driving, there is a sudden loss of power and sometimes engine cuts off. If you haven't replaced it yet, there was a recall with the 7.3 a couple years back. If they won't replace it free, it's a relatively easy DIY. Hope this helps

We have a 2009 Ford f250 diesel King Ranch and experienced intermittent missing & loss of power while pulling our 2 horse gooseneck trailer. It wasn't due to movement by the horse, he was securely tucked in and stable. It was a definite missing. Local Tyler TX Ford Dealership has no clue, wants us to continue highway travel hauling horses with a truck that loses power--over a 60 mile distance we had about 10-15 bouts of several misses at a time. Anybody know what this is?
I have a 2008 F-250 power stroke and I keep loosing water in my radiator. has anyone had this problem

#1212/09/09 22:36kat camp | my fiance and i just purchased a used 05 F250 Lariat 6.0 Diesel... we have experienced loss/fluctuating power when taking off from a stop. When this happens, the engine gets completely silent and there is no power behind the truck/in the gas pedal at all. We have noticed black smoke behind the truck on a few occasions that this happens. Then it has happened while driving on the highway several times now. It is like the truck isn't getting fuel for a second or two or like the transmission can't pick a gear... the truck actually "bucks". the engine is silent and there is no power when the gas pedal is pressed. then it just resumes normal operation. this problem is random and the dealer can't fix what we can't recreate for him. HELP!!! |
I have a 2009 F250 6.4L 4x4 crewcab. Brand new unit with 3, 000 mi on it. it is currently in the shop for a re-occurring problem. While driving down the road, ALL gauges except the gas gauge go to zero. Check engine, battery and airbag lights come on. Engine still runs but transmission dis-engages. Shift lever still reads that it is in D. After coasting to a safe place to pull over, I can put the truck into Park, the engine still runs and responds to throttle. After approx 3 minutes all gauges come back on. The first time that the shop worked on it, they indicated that the PCM code was out of date and they had reloaded new code. Obviously this was not the root problem as it has happened again and is currently in the shop. All other functions of the truck operation is fine ( brakes, steering, windows, etc all work while this is happening). P.S. the hour meter on it reads all of 121 hrs for the 7 weeks that I have owned it, and all issues have occurred under 40mph.
I have a 2008 f250 diesel. It woul lose power intermittently when trying to go up grades. Engine light would go on sporadically, but never while it was in at the dealer. After much frustration, the light came on and it was diagnosed as a faulty EGR sensor. Now replaced... Will have to see if it is fixed.

I have a 2001 Ford F250 Diesel. I loose power when driving even the pedal is to the floor. The truck is still running just no power to go. If it is a little cold (under 5 min warmup) it will die on me. Any ideas on the problem? Recall etc?

Same thing has happened twice to my 2008 Ford F250 (diesel). Once in May 2009 and again this month (Mar 2010). It's been at the Ford shop for over a week now while they're trying to figure out what's wrong with it. Sounds like they're trying harder to figure out how to get OUT of repairing it under warranty by making me come up with all the maintenance records than actually trying to repair it. I purchased two Ford P/U's the same day and am very close to becoming a Chevy man after dealing with Ford on this.
| Same thing has happened twice to my 2008 Ford F250 (diesel). Both times I was towing -- once, a boat, and once a trailer w/ tractor, when I suddenly lost power and could only go 17 MPH (this last time). #2405/23/10 16:29George B | I have a 2003 6.0 diesel if I step on the gas it will spit out black smoke and have no power then if I let off the peddle a little it kicks in and goes smoke stops and it runs fine it only losses power when I step on it other than that it runs great. |
