having problems with 2001 7.3 F350 Diesel. White smoke from exhaust and sluggish response. Help!
We have a 2009 Ford f250 diesel King Ranch and experienced intermittent missing & loss of power while pulling our 2 horse gooseneck trailer. It wasn't due to movement by the horse, he was securely tucked in and stable. It was a definite missing. Local Tyler TX Ford Dealership has no clue, wants us to continue highway travel hauling horses with a truck that loses power--over a 60 mile distance we had about 10-15 bouts of several misses at a time.
Anybody know what this is?
I have a 2008 F-250 power stroke and I keep loosing water in

i have a f20 7.3 l 2001 auto. 290, 000km i have a rough idle , no power and hard at gear changes, engine knocks until you get to 60mph and it runs fine after that. but once you let off the gas the knock comes back. what can it be?
my fiance and i just purchased a used 05 F250 Lariat 6.0 Diesel... we have experienced loss/fluctuating power when taking off from a stop. When this happens, the engine gets completely silent and there is no power behind the truck/in the gas pedal at all. We have noticed black smoke behind the truck on a few occasions that this happens. Then it has happened while driving on the highway several times now. It is like the truck isn't getting fuel for a second or two or like the transmission can't pick a gear... the truck actually "bucks". the engine is silent and there is no power when the gas pedal is pressed. then it just resumes normal operation. this problem is random and the dealer can't fix what we can't recreate for him. HELP!!!
I have a 2009 F250 6.4L 4x4 crewcab. Brand new unit with 3, 000 mi on it. it is currently in the shop for a re-occurring problem. While driving down the road, ALL gauges except the gas gauge go to zero. Check engine, battery and airbag lights come on. Engine still runs but transmission dis-engages. Shift lever still reads that it is in D. After coasting to a safe place to pull over, I can put the truck into Park, the engine still runs and responds to throttle. After approx 3 minutes all gauges come back on. The first time that the shop worked on it, they indicated that the PCM code was out of date and they had reloaded new code. Obviously this was not the root problem as it has happened again and is currently in the shop. All other functions of the truck operation is fine ( brakes, steering, windows, etc all work while this is happening). P.S. the hour meter on it reads all of 121 hrs for the 7 weeks that I have owned it, and all issues have occurred under 40mph.
I have a 2008 f250 diesel. It woul lose power intermittently when trying to go up grades. Engine light would go on sporadically, but never while it was in at the dealer. After much frustration, the light came on and it was diagnosed as a faulty EGR sensor. Now replaced... Will have to see if it is fixed.

I have a 2001 Ford F250 Diesel. I loose power when driving even the pedal is to the floor. The truck is still running just no power to go. If it is a little cold (under 5 min warmup) it will die on me. Any ideas on the problem? Recall etc?

Same thing has happened twice to my 2008 Ford F250 (diesel). Once in May 2009 and again this month (Mar 2010). It's been at the Ford shop for over a week now while they're trying to figure out what's wrong with it. Sounds like they're trying harder to figure out how to get OUT of repairing it under warranty by making me come up with all the maintenance records than actually trying to repair it. I purchased two Ford P/U's the same day and am very close to becoming a Chevy man after dealing with Ford on this.
|Same thing has happened twice to my 2008 Ford F250 (diesel). Both times I was towing -- once, a boat, and once a trailer w/ tractor, when I suddenly lost power and could only go 17 MPH (this last time). First happened in May 2009 (8 months old) and again this month (Mar 2010). It's been at the Ford shop for over a week now while they're trying to figure out what's wrong with it. |I have a 2009 F-250 4X4 Diesel. Suddenly it lost power while climbing up the hill. Now this situation is going off and on. Is there anything?? Thanks!|
I have a 2003 6.0 diesel if I step on the gas it will spit out black smoke and have no power then if I let off the peddle a little it kicks in and goes smoke stops and it runs fine it only losses power when I step on it other than that it runs great.
Loss of power on a 2006 F250 (40k) gas after driving 2 hours... for a week. Dealer no help. when replacing fuel pump I discovered the secondary filter on the pump itself was completely covered with a paper material. The primary, or outer filter was clean, as was the tank. I believe Ford screwed up and left the part # decal on the pump and it disolved and caused this restriction. The pump got hot and started to cavitate or the motor got hot causing loss of fuel pressure. Cleaned filter and problem went away.
2006 F250.. cannot fuel it up. Carbon canister is plugged off. Instead of $700 plus labor i was able to install a vent that I can open when refueling.Close it while driving or parked and am able to keep the original integurity of the system intact.
1...Drop the front of the tank down 4".
2...Disconnect the front vent line, plug the line with a 5/16" bolt.
3...Connect 4' of 3/8 gas line to tank, running the line over the frame.
4...Bolt tank back into place.
5...Install a valve on the end of the hose and secure it in an easily accessible and safe
place. ie: rear fender well...inside of box.
Note.. open the valve while refueling, close when done. Took me an hour and half.
The truck runs rough at low rpm. After 2600 rpm or the turbo kicks in it runs awsome. The water in fuel light is also on. Can anyone lend some info?
lots of problems 02 ford f150 240, 000 mile gas burner runs great bill that sounds like it could be 1 of 2 problemes these trucks are what we call drive-by-wire now and the (tps) can case that same problem and the (eps) we run in to that a lot with trucks that do lots of miles
lots of problems 02 ford f150 240, 000 mile gas burner runs great george b that is because you are dumping more fuel into the cylinders than it can burn diesel fuel will only burn under right conditions air presure has to higer than a stock intake system to burn that much fuel this engine is made to pull it was not made to do 6sec 1/4 miles or not at stock anyway but this is good if your able to dump more fuel than it can burn upgrade your intake air supply and your exaust and you will see alot more power and a lot less smoke the diesel engine is basickly an ari pump the more air you can push in and out intake and exaust the more power you will fill the better it will pull and the better milage you will get if im not miss taken up intill 2011 internatinal made the power stroke for ford if the ford dealer cant help you with problems goto them but call first becau im not 100% sure but i do know up till 2010 or 2011 model ford did not make the engine hope this helps
NOTE TO EVERY BODY THAT HAS A DIESEL 'BLAKE SMOKE' IS GOING TO TEAR YOUR TRUCK UP IT UNBURNED FUEL AND IS BAD FOR A DIESEL IT IS LAKE OF AIR IN THE PISTON CHAMBER diesel fuel is not burnt like gas it is atomized by air in the piston chamber you do not push the throttle to the floor you eas into it and white smoke is water in the piston chamber from o rigs going is common cracked head, or block
blue smoke is oil in the piston chamber from o rings or cracked head, or block
hope this helps some of you guys....any ford diesel before 2010 was not made by ford call international for help with your motor ford dose not know any thing about it they just built the drive train and chase and wireing for the motor
Well, here is another example how FORD has a good product with BAD engineering!....My buddy has a 06' F250 diesel 6.0 ...he just replaced fuel pump less than 10, 000 miles ago...and now he calls me and says it wont go over 5 miles an hour....someone mentioned to him that it could be Fuel Pressure Regulator...What do you guys think? From what I am reading, it might be the water level is low and engaging the fail-safe on the engine....Please lend me your comments...
