My speedometer quite working, I have a 1996 f250 Diesel, I thought it was a cable but I'm not sure, do they have an electrical sensor instead?

There is a low speed sensor on the front of the rear end above the pinion yoke where the drive shaft bolts to. This will cause the speedometer to not work at low speeds (LESS THAN 50 MPH) but should start working far as I know at around 50 MPH.

i have a 1995 f250 with about the same problem only my speedometer jumps around alot. i think this also contributes to my cruse control not working. i had a friend look at it who is a ford mechanic, he took out that sensor and found that metal shavings were sticking to the sensor. the metal shavings are very small, consistant with the mileage and not being serviced. i haven't had th truck too long. just courious if changing the senso out would help.
