F250 computer question

I was wondering if you could tell me what year Ford started putting computers in the diesel F250 and in the gas F250. I live in a remote area and really need to stay clear of a truck with a computer due to the fact that there is no one around to work on it.

I believe they started as early as the Mid 80's
