| Have a 2000 F-250. While driving down the highway the truck will cut out it only does it once a day. About once a week while you are driving and you slow down to turn a corner it will die. It will start right back up. I have replaced the fuel filter what else could it be? |
| i have a 95 powerstroke and o3 days ago i was driveing home and it just started bogging out . low power i would give it allthe fuel i could petel to the floor and it would bogg out worse till it finaly just died .? i changed the oil that night and its still running bad no missfireing and realy hard to start! |
| 2000 f250 4x4 7.3 at times will just start sputtering and smoking, it does it while driving down the road and it also will do it while in the driveway.will be running smooth then you touch the pedal i runs like it lost 4 cylinders and will not pull itself unless pedal to the floor.i can be driving down the road it will start acting up i just bump into neutral shut it off then start right back up it runs great may last a mile or two then does it again!! help |
| Hello, I have a 99 f250 7.3.. It stArts, runs, then sometimes I'll get a mile, sometimes 5 ft and the check engine light comes on and it sounds like it's running on 3 cyls. It also will barely move with pedal to the floor. Shutting off and restarting sometimes gets me through a stop sign and then it happens again.. Fuel filter was changed to attempt to rectify as well as drain potential water. Any help would be exceptionally appreciated John. expunge@ptd.net |
| Truck starts just fine and runs good for about 10 min. After that it feels like air is in the system then shuts down and will not start for about 15-20 min. Truck runs only for about 10 sec then shuts off again. If truck is compleatly cold it will start right up this problem seems to happen after it worm i need help i think its air in system and i got a bad code witch is p0478 i need help guys |
| I have a 1999 ford f250 7.3L diesel. In the mornings on a cold start it sounds like the turbo is 3x louder than usual for about 20 mins and when its running like this it looses alot of power. After the 20 mins it runs perfect. I changed the fuel filter recently and since then it has been leaking fuel from behind the canister that the fuel filter sits in. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance. |
| I just broke off the pice where fuel line attaches onto the fuel filter housing. I im trying to find wat that part is called? Also where i could get it? It is only about an inch and a quarter and has two allen head screws that go into it. |
| i have a 2001 f550 i started it up and when i got about 4 miles down the road i was slowing down for a stop sign and it died. and now it wont start. do you have a suggestion? |
| I just changed the oil and fuel filters and now the truck won't start@ It ran fine for a few minutes and then stopped i cycled if two times before i ran it and thought that would be good enough the bottom filter was a mess getting off diesel everywhere.. in my mouth eyes nose! finally got the filter back on and then changed the oil and top filter as well cycled it a few times and it started up like a champ then died out and would not start again! I cycled it a few more times and tried to start it again and would not start!!! What should I do! It is pretty cold I don't know if i should hook up the engine block warmer to try to make it easier to start in the morning and not work so hard! PLEASE HELP!! |
| I have a 96 f250 4x4 turbo diesel 7.3. The sending units, fuel pump, and fuel filter have been changed. the truck will drive fine for hours and then suddenly bog out even with the pedal to the floor and then die. will crank for a long time and not sound like its going to start at all. i let it sit for 2-3 hours then it will crank for a minute then start. I have no clue what it is. Please reply |
| 1999 FORD SUPER DUTY 7.3 STARTING PROBLEMS....ANSWER!!! I've had the same and similar problems as most of you and have a SOLUTION! I too have changed glow plugs, blown 30amp fuses (controls relay to glow plugs , fuel heater, injectors) etc., etc. Try This: First unplug the wires going to the Fuel Heater in the bottom of the fuel filter bowl on top of engine. Then reinstall a new fuse and retry. If it does not blow again, remove the fuel filter and inspect the Fuel Heating Element in the bottom of the fuel bowl. You should see it broken and evidence of it shorting out against the housing. If this is happening replace the Fuel Heating Element. They are fairly inexpensive. ROCKAUTO.COM has them for $28.79 for this truck. Check it out. Maybe this is the answer for some of you! Good Luck! |
| I have the very some problem as #35, can someone please address this. I have 2000 F250 with the 7.3 diesel. I can fill the fuel tank and the truck runs fine until I get to 1/4. At this point it acts as if it is starved for fuel. The tank hold about 37 gallons and when I refuel it will take about 29 gallon. I have taken it in and had the pressure chked and it was well. I am assuming as long as there is a certain amount of fuel in the the tank gravity is assisting the flow until 1/4 tank. When the truck quits at 1/4 tanl all I have to do is add about 3 gallons of fuel and its up and tunning. Any ideals will be appreciated. What can I do ? Ivan |
| replaced both fuel filters and truck will not start, have cycled the pump over and over and still wont start, is there anything else that i can try? |
| my 1984 ford 6.9 disel is geting air in the fuel filter it. will go ten miles or so before it stop.when u take the fuel filter off .u can here air escaping and the fuel is a 1/2 inch low in the filter |

SOMEONE PUT 5 GALLONS OF GAS IN MY DIESEL DROVE IT 8 MILES THEN IT SAT FOR 72 HRS I DROPPED THE FUEL TANK CLEANED IT OUT AFTER PUTTING BACK DROVE TO STORE PUMPED 10 GALLONS OF DIESEL WITH HALF OF DIESEL INJECTION CLEANER ALSO DIESEL STARTED AGAIN NOW LOSS OF POWER ONLY UP TO 15 MPH STRAINING TO GET TO THAT SPEED SO ALL LOSS OF POWER AND WHITE SMOKE IS BARRELING OUT OF TAILPIPE NON-STOP THICKER WHEN PUSHING GAS PEDAL.IT DID THIS WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK 5 MONTHS AGO BUT NEVER DID IT AGAIN.IT DOES THIS WHEN I GET TO A QUARTER TANK OF GAS LEFT.HAVE HALF A TANK NOW.DROVE IT FOR 2 HRS TRYING TO GET THE GAS OUT OF THE LINES i replaced the fuel filter, bleed the line of 1 gallon truck still smokes and has a problem starting unless i pump the pedal will idle fine though.truck is still doing all of the above.fuel filter was brown instead of white so was really dirty.maybe i got air in the lines also i'm concerned about my truck.i just bought it in november.have'nt drained the water is that the radiator fluid? |
| my husband has 02 f250 7.3 diesel. it just die someimes while driving, and sometimes wont start after driving, or if it sits
couple hours. he changed the cam sensor and yesterday i drove it maybe a total of 100 miles. it run good all day i never shut it off. then i drove it after it sat for 2 hours about 4 miles and it died. it would not start. the nxt morning it started and drove home fine. there is no check engine light on. what could be causing this? |
 "2004 Ford f350"Help Had the fuel filters changed, leaked diesel all over the motor took back to where we had it done they sent it to a Ford dealership and when they started it up the motor took off and he had to plug it off. Now he's saying the fuel was contaminated Now its sitting in the underground apart Any ideas out there for us |
| "ford truck runing bad" it sounds like the wiring harness under the valve cover if you take your oil fill cap off you can smell burnt wires if its on that side if its on the other side you will have to take the cover off i took my truck in to get it fixed when that ha pend to me they couldn't figure it out so i had to figure it out my self but i would beat money that that is your problem |
