1955 F100 starter not turning

Hello,

I'm in need of some advice. A friend has a 1955 F100 and when we push the start button all we're getting is a little rotation on the starter which turns into just a clicking sound.

I have checked all the terminals, wiring, grounds and everything looks ok. The battery has recently been replaced with a new 6v battery and the truck started for a little while. Now we get nothing.

Any recommendations? Short of simply replacing the starter solenoid and rebuilding/replacing the starter I'm at a loss.

Any ideas or links to companies that specialize in

vintage trucks?
