Ford-Explorer - Warning chime

A chime sound (similar to ones you hear when not buckled up)start to sound imediately after the car is placed in gears (either Drive or Reverse)and continues to sound intermitently for about 30-45 seconds, then silences itself. After driving for a while, the alarm sounds again for another 30-45. There are no indications of malfuctions on the instrument panel. This is a 2001, two door, Ford Explorer. Can anyone advise where to look to fix this problem. Thanks.

I am in the midst of dealing with the same problem on my 99 4 door. I am curious if you have any other issues right now. For example, are you having any lock related problems or other electrical problems? This will help me troubleshoot the repair and then I can relay the solution to you.
