I have a 2006 ford explorer with an automatic transmission and sometimes the shifter release button will not release. Ford has already replaced the shifter. Any ideas?

could be the brake position switch on the brake pedal arm. it tells the shifter you have your foot on the brake and its what allows the shifter to be moved.
