RECENTLY CHANGED MY SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES AND CODES ARE COMING UP AS P0171, P0174, AND PO309 WHICH ARE RUNNING LEAN AND IGNITION MISFIRE. THE IDLE ARM ALSO REVS UP ON ITS OWN AND COMES BACK DOWN. THEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY. BUT ONLY WHEN IDLE. ANY IDEAS?

I changed fuel filter on '08 Explorer V-8. Filter not readily visible or easy to get to. Located inside right frame, behind right catalytic converter(?). Must remove aluminum heat shield (3-13mm cap screws), remove 2-10mm nuts holding plastic cover that hides/holds fuel filter above cross-frame tranny support. Fuel filter is held/secured to fuel lines by plastic clips. No special tools required, but tricky one handed operation. Engine side clip releases by squeezing in and pushing up (hairpin type clip). Tank side is a red clip that requires pulling one side free(this part expands the clip when closed), then squeeze in sides and push up similar to engine side. Filter slides out easily. Fuel spillage is from fuel in the filter. Be sure to get new filter pushed in so the clips come on the back side ot the ridges on the pipe to hold the lines on the filter. Obviously, the engine was cold. I didn't disconnect electrical power, but be sure no power is applied.
