2002 Explorer unlocking and locking the doors while driving down the rodeI own a 2002 Ford Explorer, the problem is: the door ajar light comes on then the alarm bell chimes goes off, the doors unlock and lock constantly, the overhead light comes on. I tried to open the drivers side door and shut it, sometimes it would quit. So I put a new sensor in the door, but it still does it. Some times it locks and unlocks without the door ajar light coming on. Also the daytime running lights blick on and off, on and off, I had to press the emergency brake down on notch to make this stop. Would doing this cause these other problems? Need some help, the wife is wanting to trade, and it's perfectly good ride except for this problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

|We have the same problem with our 02 Explorer...we are in the process of taking apart the door and cleaning all the guts, then we are going to spray with WD40 as most others who had this problem have done with success. Will let you know if it works, because our next option is replacing the sensor, but it appears that didn't work for you, so here's hoping WD40 works! Also, how did you know for sure it was teh driver's door?? Maybe try cleaning the passenger door sensor and latch...|
|We had the same problem with our '02 ford explorer. My husband went around to all the lock mechanisms and sprayed them with WD-40. That was about 2 years ago, and we haven't had the problem since. He did spray everything he could see really well. Quick, easy fix!|

1) power locks keep triggering when I hit a bump
2) low 4x4 wont disengage smoothly anymore. I have decided to never use this again unless im erally stuck in the mud.
3- i like this truck but its kind of glitchy. i would be weary of it and have a spare set of keys on you
|I had the same problem... I took it in and the wire that attaches inside the door was broken.. simple fix.|
|Key lock on 2004 Explorer seems to have a mind of its own.Locks/unlocks keeps going thro' motion as if its trying either lock or unlock although door buttons not always operating.Regards Howard|
|I have Ford explorer XLT 2002.When is runnig the power locks keep triggering.I found that the driver door the power lock is not working.I replace the driver door power lock and sensor.Now the driver power lock is working but have the same problem, keep triggering when is runnig.Need help with this problem.Thannks|
|i have a 2002 ford exp. xlt 4wd. my locks also lock/unlock while driving and the dome light flickers also.i have already wd40 my door locks and it seems that it has gotten worse.can someone please help me out.......i guess things happen when you pay them off...ha|

|I stopped and got out of my 2004 Ford Explorer the other day and locked the door with the manual lock control on the drivers door. It immediately unlocked. I tried several times with the same result. I had my remote/keys in my hand and checked to be sure that my hand wasn't on the button. Tried about ten more times with the same result. I got in and closed the door and locked it manually. Everything was fine. I tried getting out and locking it again (manually), again the same result. Got back in the car and was going to move to another spot, but tried it again, this time using the remote while sitting in the car with the door closed. Locked and unlocked it twice, and everything seemed normal. I got out and locked it again manually and it was okay. I came back about ten minutes later and the remote worked fine unlocking it. I made a couple of more stops and finally went home. In my driveway, it did it again about two or three times, so I did the remote thing sitting in the car again. Then I showed my wife a little later and it was doing it again. Drove it the rest of the day with no problems and it hasn't done it again in the last two days?????|

started the irritating door chime problem! I am going to try the wd40 and hope it works. id unplug the fuse if I knew which
one went to it because don't have a book with it. I havent seen anybody try that so maybe not the answer. Wonder why ford
hasnt recalled and repaired this problem so we all won't hate our ride!

|cant lock my 99 explorer, when it does lock, u can hear a buzzing sound from the rear for a few mins ??? also, on dash, a light is on, showing a truck with a line thru it, any ideas ?|

|same intermitten lock problem on 95 xlt used to cont. until battery ran down checked forums and used the wd-40 fix and problem solved needed to do 2x|
|My door sensor alarms come on every 10 seconds 5 to 8 times when ever i turn the vechile on and when it is off it has a mind of its own the car alarm will go off for no reason is this has something to do with the door sensors.|
|All explorers including rangers have a defect in the wiring harness that goes between the drivers door and the fuse box. There are 2 gnd wires in the bundle, 1 12 or 14Awg and 1 that is 18AWG. Both are too short and break. This creates all kinds of funky problems with door ajar, dome lights and locks. Check both these gnd wires. Both of my gnd wires were broke. Add a 3 " extension to each one and the problems will disappear.|

have a 2001 ford explorer and the problem was in the driver door inside the rubber boot were wires run from door to under dash. there was a broken little red wire inside . reattached with wire connector and electrical tape. No more problems .ford dealership wanted $225.00 to fix a $2 problem.
