Coolant Leaking to back of Expedition

Help! Help!

I have a 2001 Expedition that is leaking coolant to the back. It leaks immediately after I drive and for just a bit longer.

It is dripping coolant from the back of the truck just under the driver's side rear wheel. I took a look, and there are 3 hoses that are clean and not broken. However next to the 3 hoses, there is an open area where the coolant is coming out of.

What is it? I have heard of a freeze plug, is that it? How can I fix it?

I had the same issue. on your expedition coolant runs around your truck. I did not belive it either. above the spare tire are metal lines that runs coolant in it was rubbed for so long that it wore a hole in the tube. This is were my leak was. instead of me changing the metal line I cut it on both sides than ran a heater hose and clamped it . email me and I will call you and give better instructions.

I have a 99 ford expedition that has rear A/C and it is leaking coolant from the rear of the vehicle behind the driver side wheel, I looked under there and it appears to be leaking/draining from a small hose. is it possible it could be the rear heater core? when i turn on the rear A/C I can smell coolant coming from the rear air vents and is the a drainage hose?

Thank author of this post/comment"leaking hose"

I also had my Expedition leaking coolant at the back end. I dropped the spare tire down and peeked above the suspect area and found the bolts that hold the spare tire winch in place were rubbing in two places on the heater tubing. The only reason it was rubbing, was the brackets that hold the lineset up had loosened over time and dropped it to where it was rubbing. Make sure you tighten those up after repair or it will rub again.

I used 2ea.-5/8" compression fittings and 2 ea. 5/8" barbed x1/2"NPT fittings and a couple hose clamps (with hose of course). It was a pretty easy fix and not much time. I used a tubing cutter but a Dremel tool would've been quicker to cut through the tubing. I asked the local dealership if they had any recalls along these lines and they said that was the first time they ever heard of that- right!!??
