Lights stay on after starting for about 5 min. Also stay on afteer ignition is turned off. running battery down. Is there a way I can find the problem and fix it without taking it into a dealer?

Good luck. I have been fighting with Ford over the door sensors for 2 years. All of the dealerships are fully aware that the door sensors are defective and should be recalled however Ford's stand on this is that it is not a problem .I have already replaced the sensor in two doors and it is still a problem and am being told that it could be one of the other 3 doors. I have resorted to just pulling the fuse when I shut the vehicle off as I was tired of having the truck jumped and putting in new batteries. Very frustrating that Ford refuses to recognize this issue

I'm sure you've heard about the WD-40 if you've been researching this online. As strange as it sounds, it works. I have a 2002 Excursion. I bought it new and a week later started doing the same thing. Since I have owned other Fords, from Windstars to Expeditions, I've encountered this issue several times. Spray a generous amount of WD-40 into each door latch and work the latch a few times.

Stop!! before you do anything get some WD40 or like product and spray the door lock grabs (for lack of better terminology) after spraying open and shut door several times.I too replaced 2 door sensors & 2 batteries, and after a year was told I needed to replace the other 3!! Looked on the internet to see if anyone else had this issue and there was the answer!! spray before going to dealer to replace. Its a miracle all my lights shut off and now my battery doesnt drain. Of course Ford would not be making any money off of us if they told you this. I now wonder if they even replaced the door sensors the first time I brought it in
