ACC wiring

I have attempted to install an aftermarket in-dash GPS unit to my 2008 Ford Escape. The new wiring harness was easy to splice into the existing audio wires (all the colors matched). The only problem was that the new GPS unit didn't start up at all. I called Crutchfield and they informed me that the red accessories (ACC) wire is no longer attached. Apparently Ford (according to Crutchfield) has done away with the ACC wire on the audio systems. I haven't been able to find the acc wire in any wiring diagram. I was wondering if anyone has had the similar issue.
