What is the problem when driving my 2003 Escape, the theft light comes on and there is a skip in the engine.(like the engine wanted to stall).Also when I came upon a bump in the road the theft light comes on...Does not stay on (the light comes on and then goes off) ? Is it safe to drive back to Florida from NY ?

Hello Barbara,

Did you find out what the problem was with your ford escape? If so, What was it and how did you get it fixed? I have a ford escape 2005 and recently it's been having the same problem theft light comes on and then there's a skip in the engine...Light does not stay on (the light comes on and then goes off).

I just purchased an 05 escape. with in 24 hours of having it, it started doing the same thing. I took it back to the dealership and asked them to fix it...for free!! They agreed. After running a few test, they figured out that the theft light and the motor acting like it was going to stall were a warning/indicator signal for the spark plugs being bad. They replaced all six and I was on my way! No problems since. I'll let you know if anything changes. (total cost...that they paid...was about $185 including labor.)

the theft light in my ford explorer 05 just started to blink after I turned mu truck off... I took the key off, I started it again and everythig seems ok. I just don't know why it is still clicking when the truck is already off! Can anyone help me?
