2000 contour svt rear t/s & brake lights

The REAR turn signals and most of the brake lights (except for the small light on top) on my 2000 contour svt are not working. Why would this be happening?

Your Brake lights are controlled by the upper brake switch, the lower one disengages the CRUISE Control and acutuates the THIRD Brake light. Now for the Upper brake switch it leads to the turn signal switch (which can be removed by removing stearring collar trim, release captive mech. and slide Signal switch up)this switch controls routing for brake and signal lights. Most likely the TURN SIGINAL switch is bad. SCRAP YARD SPECIAL.
