1998 Ford Contour Coolant Question

My coolant is leaking from a large hole in a metal pipe that a large rubber hose clamps over. This is beneath the large rubber junction. The metal pipe runs back towards the rear of the motor and to somewhere else. The hole is in the metal pipe right where the rubber pipe clamps over. I am unable to slide the rubber hose up any further due to a mounting bracking of the metal pipe. the Auto store is unable to identify which part it is and order me a new one. Any help would be apprectiated.

What you are describing sounds like the metal tube that carries coolant around the engine and back to the heater core. It is a dealer-only item. I recently replaced one on my wife's car.
