1982 was the last year fiat brought cars to north america. the yellow peril who subsidized their cars selling them below cost made Fiat unable to compete. Fiat continued in south america until today still. fiat in europe is the third biggest selling car company after VW and Renault.

I just returned from a vacation in Italy and we fell in love with the Fiats we rented. We had both a Panda and a Chroma...both were fantastic autos. We have a Mini cooper in the family and there is not a lot of difference between it and the Panda...both have fair to poor gas mileage, but handling and fun factor is also excellent in both. The chroma was a diesel and is an outstanding auto...nice traveling, roomy, comfortable (and I'm 6'2 and 300lbs)....fuel mileage was fantastic...had to be somewhere in the 40's per gallon....want to buy one....WHERE?

Hi Carl, I just returned from Europe and also rented a Fiat Chroma and was very impressed with roominess and gas milage. It was diesel and I believe I got about 47mpg. To my suprise diesel fuel was more reasonable the gas is Italy. The Fiat was a diesel. I would like to know where to purchase a Fiat. If you have any anwsers please email me. Thanks, Claire

We, also, just returned from Rome and Venice. Where in the US is there a dealership? How do I find out more about these marvelous cars? We are looking for the five-door hatchbook.Barbara DeLeon

You said five door hatchback ? Hmm, i think the Bravo or Punto will be the best for you.I know that Fiats can be strange for you, but in Europe they are common cars, cheap and economic. But there is one disadvantage: you can't buy it in US, you have to import it from Europe.

Check this link, it's about Grande Punto. It is smaller than Bravo and a little bit cheaper.
