I have a Dogge Stratus 1997 automatic and it has problems shifting gears, they told me that there is a part, that has to be replaced, it is kind of the brain of the transmition, but I have not been able to get the name of the part or none the less the price, can someone help me out here.

It's the ECU they are talking about... only a 20 minute fix right behind the headlight. I think the cost is around 100 at a dealership... good luck!

No You ALL are wrong it's a tcm a transmission contorl model .it could be that might not be it could be lose wire on your relay for your tcm most common it could be a relay going bad for the tcm it could be a input senor or a out put sensor that is located on your transmission it could also be your transmission solinoied pack needs to be replaced on your trans mission or could be a bad idc which is vavle idle air control that is located on your trottle body beside your trottle sensor.first think i would do is get a diganostic test done most likely your software needs to be updated.if your car is going into limp mode!!! which is down shifting on it's on when you are driving or want shift into gear some times its going thru the limp mode stage so many dodge stratus cars are going thru it because its junk i no i have a 2000 dodge stratus my self 2.0 liter but thats what it is.if you need me email me.JJ

not to hard to change pull wheels and transaxels, motormounts (front and back), and disassemble trans. bolts, lower motor and pull it out
