electrical problem

i have a 2000 dodge stratus. it sat over the winter. now when thwe car is started, the radio doesnt work although, you can here a power surge in the speakers whe you first turn the radio on. also the dome light doesn't work. whenyou manually turn on the dome light, you can hear the thump of what may be a power surge in the speakers. the electric windows only work intermitantly. any ideas?

David I have this same issue in my dodge stratus '99 I was wondering if you ever figured out the issue...and what you did to solve it?

you have a wire shorting out behind your fuse box to ground most likely to your inside mount for your fuse box id check all wires for your fuse box make sure they ant none burnt and check the fuses inside the car and also out side under the hood near the tcm near your trottle body by your positive wire.

I am trying to install a astra 600 car alarm system in my 04 Dodge sedan. I have an Haynes Repair manual with the worst set of wiring diagrams I have ever seen! I have an Associates degree in electronics and have worked autos for at least 35 years. What I need is a good and free and accurate set of wiring diagrams.Thank you. Tony
