Dodge-Neon - Transmission problem

About a year ago I hit an unseen piece of road debris in my 1996 Dodge Neon (automatic). I pulled over and examined the front end to find no body damage, but that it was leaking oil badly. I suspected a damaged oil pan. It was dark, raining and I was about 4 blocks from away so I decided to drive it home and worry about it in the morning. During that four block drive I noticed it wouldn't shift out of first gear and realized I was leaking transmission fluid, not oil. I pulled up to the house, quickly threw it into park and rapidly turned off the key. The next day I fixed the pierced transmission line that runs under my radiator, replaced the fluid and was suprised when it didn't start. I soon realised that the car thinks its still in drive. The low fluid level caused the transmission to be unable to generate enough pressure to shift into park when I quickly moved the shifter. It hasn't started since. I can move the shifter, I've checked the shift cable and shift lever on top of the transmission and they seem fine. I can tell the car is remaining in park because I can't turn the key and I can't even push it when I put the shifter into neutral or drive. What should I try?
