99 neon starter problems.

can't seem to get any power to the brown selenoid wire. cleaned all contacts, ran a jump wire to straight power to selenoid and got starter to engage. any ideas would be cool, thought maybe ignition switch. also swapped some relays out in the underhood fuse block.nothin......

My manual transmission, Dodge Neon 1999 has a starting problem. First i was driving it with the A/C on and i was in nuetral at the time and didnt have the clutch in all the way and i killed it. From there i tried to start it back up and it didnt start everything else worked:the A/C, and i heard the fuel pump too, and when i try to turn it over all i hear is a click. If i jump the clutch it will work just fine. So, i think it might be the starter. If i replace the starter will it start and run normal as when i jump the clutch????

I have been having the same issues regarding my 2001 dodge neon starting... I have replaced the starter, replaced the ignition switch, replaced new battery posts.... car is always a hit or miss when starting. It will start fine for a few days or so consistently, but then out of nowhere when picking up a pizza or shopping at walmart, i'll come out and the car will not start. the battery is new as well. It just makes the clicking sound... what can I do?

I have a 99 dodge neon, I had a bit of an overheating issue with my vehicle as the "service engine light" came on and the temperature gauge jumped to hot in about 1 minute. Anyways, the vehicle stalled and now when I take the keys out, the fuse box beside my steering wheel makes a buzzing sound and when the keys are in it stops, also when I turn the key to start the engine I don't hear the starter or anything. could this be an electrical issue?

My 1996 neon will not start in the morning when its cold. I play the hit and miss game every day when its cold trying to get it to start. I usually have to jump it because trying to start it runs down the battery. I am so frustrated

reply #14....you have more than one issue. the over heating is a cooling issue water pump, thermostat, cooling fan...the other problem your having is from sitting your batt is dead so the buzzing is from the low voltage tryin to go thru relays and other crap...jump it find coolant problem.

Just before Christmas I drove my car around all day with no issues. I parked it and went to start it a hour later and there was nothing didn't even turn over. I checked all the fuses and the connections to the starter and battery they all seem fine. The battery is almost new and its powering the rest of the vehicle fine. I had to push start it to get home and yes it was the first and only time I had to push start it. Do you think I need a new starter or could it be something else? Remember its a manual not a automatic.

My 2000 Dodge Neon will not start. I jumped it at the beach, it didn't even click. It's currently getting 12.26 volts? at the starter when grounded, the battery has 12 (volts? Idk my dad used a "meter")...It has been dying at stop lights when I have my a/c running sometimes, but usually starts running again. It died while running because I turned the wheel a full 180 degrees, I don't know why it died but that's not the first time the engine lulled b/c of me turning my wheel too far. Should I go to a mechanic? Or try replacing the starter? I have no idea what to do...

Carless.

Also, we refilled the batter terminals with battery acid, and I know my battery is ok from some testing we did with gravity balls? or something in a tube where you sucked out the battery acid and the fact that I can turn my key and the lights come on fine, the radio comes on fine.. My engine won't turn or anything!PLEASE HELP!!!!

I have an 02 dodge neon, last week it stormed bad and it sucked water into the motor, it was a pretty big puddle and water was allover inside the hood, it died instantly, i tried to start it but it just clicks wont even try to crank over, i took the head off and got the water out of the engine block, put everything back together and still it just clicks, i thought it was only water locked up, but still nothing but clicking. anyone please help dont have too much time i need this to get me to work and back.

i have a 95 dodge neon i just bought and it has been setting for 4 years, i put a new battery in the car and i get power inside of the car and head lights and tail lights work but when i try to start the car makes a clicking sound at the starter, i banged and banged in the starter and i get nothing the same old clicking. i have been told that the engine could be locked up, so i am going to try to turn the crank pully to check, but if its not locked up then is the starter bad? what can i do because if i dont get it running then i will take it to a local scrap yard. p.s the car has 166, 000 miles, if it matters.

My 99 neon makes a humming noise by the right front tire. I have put it up on blocks and got it upto 70mph and did not make the humming. I took the hub cap off and drove it. The humming was still there. Any suggestions?

Sounds like I am not the only one... my 2001 Neon began to start then failed. Tried again. Nothing, not even a noise. The lights worked, but we checked the battery anyway (cleaned and tried to jump it). Once under the hood (while trying to start it) we could hear a faint ticking from the fuse area. Tested the fuses and they seem fine. My brother said it is probably the starter relay wire... it is probably loose or burnt. Happy to hear, but I can't locate it under my hood (I am not car savvy). His friend said it could be the starter solenoid. Anyone else have these issues? Why are so many Neon's having the "just won't start" issue??

So I walk in a store... come out less than 3 mins... car wont start.... it clicked once then nothing.... tried to jump my battery.... nothing... I've changed my starter, starter relay, ignition switch , and battery....nothing... I've also checked both my ignition and started fuses... both good... I dont know what else to do... I was told to check my main relay.... but I have no clue where its located.... I need some help....
