I've got a 96 grand caravan and it has a problems shifting sometimes. Sometimes the van will not shift past 3rd gear, I can shut the van off and start it back up and it will shift fine again. Then if its really cold out (I live in Northern MI) or if I don't drive it for a few days in the winter I'll start driving and it won't shift past 3rd AND the speedometer will not work. After I drive it like that for about 10 mins or let it idle for about a half hour it will go back to normal shifting. I am guessing this may be a sensor on the trans but I am not sure, and if it is I am not sure what sensor it would be! Any ideas? This is driving me crazy...Thanks! Andrew

This could be a result of using the wrong transmission fluid. You should be using ATF+4. It's a well-known issue.See this set of forum entries: http://townhall-talk. edmunds.com/ WebX?14@878. 0lT2aR24TD6@. ee93e7a/1332#1332 (sorry, I had to break the URL into pieces to get under the 24-letter-word forum restriction - just copy the whole thing into notepad, make it into 1 long address line, and paste it into your web browser)
