2006 Grand Caravan Side Door Lock Problem

2006 Grand Caravan - Left power side door will not lock or unlock using either driver's door switch or remote. All other doors/locks work correctly.

If left power door is locked manually, door will not unlock or open with either overhead panel switch or remote.

Two questions:

1)Any suggestions on what could be going on and/or what to do about it?

2) I have a feeling the door lock solenoid (assuming there is one) is NG. How do I get the trim panel at the upper part of the door off? Got the small one with bumper off, but larger one doesn't seem to want to come of the same way.
