There is a cleaner kit available that will clean up the foggy plastic lens by buffing with a special paste. However, buffing with toothpaste and a soft cloth works just as well.Try it in a lower corner until you get the technique down -- and don't buff too hard or long in any one area. Rinse with warm water and another soft cloth.

I have also had success progressively sanding the surface with progressively finer wet/dry sand paper to remove scratches and bad weathering. Then I buff on my electric buffer/grinder using the correct compound for plastic. This should be attempted on units that are in bad shape, otherwise try the more gentile technique mentioned above.

Buffing certainly helps, but also change over to halogen bulbs. You will notice a huge difference.

We picked up a bottle of some stuff called blue magic headlight lens restorer at our local auto parts store. Did a fantastic job, with just a wipe on, little bit of elbow rubbing grease and wipe off while still wet! Hope that helps!!Bob

The headlights are made of a polycarbonate (plastic) that is damaged by uv and road debris. The over the counter products you can buy at most parts stores will improve the lens if they are not damaged to bad. However it sounds like yours are to far gone for any of these to work. You can check in your aera for Headlight Restoration, some detail shops or auto body shop offer this service. I offer it at my Paintless Dent Removal shop the cost here is 75 for both headlights. Hope this helps.

Finding a good tech with a long lasting product for headlights is the key. If your in the Virginia Beach area, call 757-718-3519 for the best mobile headlight reconditioning service avalible. They charge $500.00 per pair of headlights and it will last 2 years + without fading, scratching or chipping.

There is a Turtle Wax product that I bought from Autozone. It requires a little rubbing out and ideally you should take out the headlamps. The fading is caused by the sun and the plastic headlamps fade because of the UV rays that cause the plastic to basically breakdown. It's like anything you can wipe it but you're not wiping it off. trust me, go pay $7.99 and maybe get some better bulbs.
