After installing a new stereo, I found that when the ignition is off, all instruments lose power. The dome lights will not come on, automatic door locks do not work, headlights will not come on. However when the ignition is on, everything works just fine. I checked the fuses, nothing is blow. I've asked a few friends and they are clueless. Have any ideas?

When we bought our 99 Caravan (previously owned), we researched common problems with them. Wow were we surprised to learn that there was once a recall on this year and model for electrical issues. Seems there is a clock screw (whatever that may be), that causes issues with the electric system. The airbag warning light was on, the clock wasn't working. Take it to a dealership. They fix it free in about an hour. Good luck!!

I have a 1999 Caravan with less than 100, 000 miles. It has been taken very good care of, oil changes when necessay sometimes sooner. It started missing and driving poorly, so I took it to my local mechanic.. he says it has a flat cam and the number 4 cylender looks like it hasn't been firing for quite some time am confident there is nothing we have done to it to cause such damage. We do not have a tow package, it has never pulled or pushed anything. It's a basic model, no elec windows or doors. No cruise control.

Is this problem heard of? Is it a common issue? My mechanic feels it's a factory defect and nothing we have done.

Any information would be appreciated.

i have a 99 dodge caravan and it blew a head gasket so i replaced both head gaskets and and the water pump and the timmign belt and all the neccariy gaskets. now that i have it back toghater it is tapping like it has a lifter loose and it wont stay running after it gets warm.

99 Caravan I'm the only owner have never had a problem until now, it stalls while driving after a few minutes it will restart and go for a while before doing it again.This mornig however it doesn't want to start at all just crank.Anybody out there have or seen this problem? Thanks Joe
