I have a 1997 Dodge Grand caravan AWD, 3.8L engin. While driving in I80 near Lake Tahoe skii area, this car was sliding, so I had to pull over and installed snow cable. With cable installed, it could hardly get out of parking lot. This experience really supprises me, and I cannot tell if the AWD feature is really there.1) How to identify the AWD in the car? 2) How to verify that AWD is really working? Thanks

To: Reply #1 WindWell it dont sound as if you really have a AWD. Who ever sold it to you might have taken out the drive shaft that goes from the trans to the rear case because it was hopping. You can buy them for $800 or so new from chysler, beleive me no other option is avail since junk yard shafts wont be reliable. You dont need the drive shaft to operate the van in FWD. To check, just look under the car and see if there is a shaft from the front to the back.

Hi, the code are>12. Direct battery input to PCM (Power Train Control Module, The control computer)was disconnected within the last 50 Key-On cycles. 66. No CCD messages recived from the BCM (Body Control Module) or the TCM (Transmission Control Module). 55. Completion of fault code display on Check Engine lamp. if you have code 66 means that it might have a false contact in some connector. Gus.
