Dodge-Avenger - 99 Avenger stalls when decelerating

99 Avenger kept running the codes for a bad map sensor. Replaced 2x as well as new sparks, wires, cap etc 2x. Exhaust is running rich as well. Every time I start the engine, revs go up for 5 secs then drop down and engine dies. If sometimes it does hold its rpms, I can drive it down the street but once I decelerate it dies again. Has anyone else had this issue or any ideas on how to fix?

hi im haveing the same problems with my car as what you said i have no clue what is wrong with it. it just happened out of the blue. it idles normal for about the first 10 mins then just as soon as i go down the road it dies when i come to a stop. its realy frusterating seeing that i had changed my idle air control and my map sensor every thing that had poped up on the computer. i did some research and i found that some one changed the egr valve and fuel filter with the same problem and it worked for him. who knows i dont know if it does the same for you but when you give it gas it seams like theres a rev limiter at 4 thousand rpms and it makes the car jump all over the place. who knows what the problem could be if i cant find anything else to replace then im thinking about changing the entire ecu.

i have a 2000 dodge avenger and it has a mind of its own. it will idle normal on a first start, even when it hot, but once u start driving i have to keep my foot on the gas in order for it to stop dying. it stalls out when decelerating. even when i am at a complete stop. i did a complete tune up on it. and it still happening. when i scan the code it comes up with the map sensor. i've replaced that and it still drive like crap. i can hear a vacuum leak from the back of the intake plus i'm getting no vacuum from the egr but it doesn't pull a code for egr. can some please help me out

I have a 2000 dodge intrepid runs great till now . It stars drives and then just stops. after I leave it sit for awhile it starts right up again., Is it a fuel filter problem? I do not know where this is located. Please advise, Is this filter difficult to replace ?
