I'm Mike G. and I have a 1996 dodge 2500 Laramie SLT.I have some news for dodge diesel owners out there that is looking for minor upgrades for the 5.9 Cummins Turbo diesel, that will increase performance but will not empty your pockets.First i would like to point out that straight pipes are now legal, with the add on of a PowerAdder cold air filter adds less resistence to air flow which increases gas mileage and takeoff. Then i would reccommend the J-Hook for the turbo, it'll get rid of quite a bit of the turbo lag which will help when you need the boost on those uphill climbs with a heavy load.if you have any further questions you can e-mail me at LiL'c'RAG_594@yahoo.com and i will reply as soon asi can with the answer.

My mechanic says that I need new ball joints. He recommends replacing both the upper and lower at the same time. Does anyone know how hard it is to replace these yourself or is it too much for a home mechanic to deal with.

I have a 96 2500 dodge fully loadedand is has been repainted because of the hot summers and those few years all of the company's Chevy, ford and Chrysler were talked into a cheap paint that fads and peals I have added a few thing to make the truck look good but now it is the time to get serious and work on he drive train......I have put all new front end parts o and have changed the rear Axel seal and changed over to disk brakes But seeing I live in a state that has to be checked Evey year So here is the deal I am looking for the most I can get for power but also fuel mileage Also this is a 2 wheel drive truck 1 is because I use to hauled a goose neck trailer and have a CDL but because of my Cancer they said they got I can never drive again so it looks like a 5th trailer for me now to see places I have been to BTU never really saw so now I am disabled also my wife is to but I like HP but keep the mileage I get 25.2 now but saw that adding CNG will take care if a let of things I know the the more air I get the better and the colder it is the better also exhaust is a big thing and I have a p pump so there is a lot to be done to that also injectors and also more and a good ride for the both of us but will not lose my HUD status because of the pulling Also need the sleeper look so rice burners will look twice when I go by them So My wife and I get a set amount of money each month and also with our rentals and my computer and satellite work add a little more I know electronics and satellites with the best of them but when it is getting Moe out of my truck that is different I could spend money foolishly and get nothing but I can ask ppl that know what is the best way to go and cost efficient I see ad's telling you all kids of things but never ppl saying it is a waste or not 500 hp is a good start and up to a grand in power is even better but HP costs so I can live with lower HP and stafe safe in parts So if any or all have ideas I would like to look into it and make sure it has been tested and the price of fuel is a big concern also so that is why I suggested CNG as a added fuel so mileage all is much better Thank You

OKgot the cng and the exhaust, the trans and torque converter, cam plate, injectors , improved the intercooler, put in all the gages, had a jack brake put on new Pentium, fass fuel setup and had the p pump worked over...now I run with CNG about 650 HP and can pull anything and get 70mpg at 70 mph..the slower I go the less mileages get...now to get bio-fuel to be made at home will redo the turbo to twin and have the heads gone over, valve job, porting and leveled and studs put in and I had the KP fix put on ..but it was tight and did not need it done..wish I had a cam at the time and fluid dampner...so have to start over again now all I need to know if I missed anything ( the exhaust are smokers )...if this is all I have to do then I am going to work on the interior and make it leather with a star to match my rockstar wheels and Nitto tires OH I added 2 new red top optima battery's, the biggest alternator I could get and change the greats and went to full air posi and got rid of my limited slip one
