This was my answer to the so called death wobble on dodge 4x4 diesel pickup trucks from 94 to present.. I installed a Dodge Stabilizer kit and an adjustible track bar. The track bar is the conversion from the old style tie rod end to the newer double bushing one on the newer dodge trucks starting in 03 I believe. The parts are available from CPH Sales and Services INC Phone number 1-613-933-0632. One also must align the wheels to new specs available from Solid Steel Industrial Manufacturing LTD in Weyburn, SK. Ph. NU 1-306-842 4346. They are experts on the steering an suspension parts problems with Dodge pickup trucks. Hope this helps everyboby with the "death wobble"
PS My truck is a 1994 model 2500 4x4 with diesel engine
This will repair the Wabble.I have a 1994 Dodge diesel 4x4When I hit a bump or even a groove in the road I was out of control.I have been a truck mechanic for 35 years. I checked the front end and found a little wear in the torque arm bushing. That I replaced. This didn't do a thing for it. I welded brackets that I made on the front end and had to install 3 stablizer steering shocks on it and this worked great. 65 or 70 mph pot holes or anything else , it is great. P.S. With 3 cylinders on the steering, it is just a little harder to steer.
Parts: 2 rancho cylinders heavy duty and I standard cylinder
NO MORE SHIMMY OR WABBLE
Summit racing just come out with a new product for the death wobble thay say it is the frame twisting so thear is a reinforcment they build you may try that
Interesting...our 2002 Dodge Dakota and our 2007 Dodge Caliber as well as our friends 2008 Dodge Ram ALL have that horrible shake. The dodge store blamed the rotors but we've had them turned and then replaced twice. We are getting quite frustrated with it and it also seems dangerous. Anyone have advice for an affordable fix to this?

this problem has happened to me also. it can scare the s*** out of u especially on the freeway at 70 mph! if this is such a known concern, why has Dodge not recalled this safety defect? let a driver who doesn't know how to react and he or she will kill someone! incl themselves!
I have a 06 dodge ram 2500 with only 20, 000 miles, stock height and i had the same thing happen to me just 7-8 months ago, i went over a bridge and where the road meets the end of it i steped on the gas and all of sudden my front end just went of control i let my truck slow on its own until it was maybe 40-45 mph then it went away. I never ever had this happen to me and ive owned dodge truck my hole life. So what i did to fix it was changed my Steering Stabilizer, and changed my tire size to 31's from 33's and it went away. The look i wanted for my truck is alittle smaller but it's safer for me and my family. Now because of this I have to change tie rod ends ball joints basically the whole steering system from pitmen arm out. my truck is only 4 years old what am i to do????
I hope this helps
i also have a 2002 dodge intrepid that has this shake!! i was driving from orlando to tampa today and i must say it was a very nerve racking experince! when the car is parked i can shake the wheel on the front driver side with a gentle kick and it rattles! if anyone knows what is causing this and how much it it to fix plz let me know!!!
I just experienced the same thing with my 1988 Jeep Wagoneer. I traded a good 91 camry for it and imagine my horror when i made a left turn a few minutes after swapping titles and it started spazzing out. No one seems to understand exactly HOW violent this shaking is, no matter how you word it. They all imagine the shake from a warped rotor but this is really like an earthquake in the front end... it stalled the engine. After crawling around under the jeep and finding nothing loose, i call my friend who managed Advanced Auto store for 28 yrs and he immediately said to take the steering stabilizer shock off and check it and sure enough it was dead; no resistance at all.
I have a 2005 Dodge 2500 Power Wagon. Had the truck for about 4 years with under 50K miles and the "DEATH WABBLE" started with it. Took it to the Dodge Dealer who told me it was a bad stearing stabilizer and they needed $100 for the diagnosis (Which was wrong) and then $350.00 for the Steering Stabilizer installed. (Joke!) Bought one myself on line and installed it. Problem NOT FIXED. Still has the "DEATH WABBLE" Took it to my local garage that fixes my vehicles and my Motorcoach, they replaced the steering box, Ball Joints, Tie Rods and $800.00 later "DEATH WABBLE" still there. I had two friends who also had the same problem, one who just got tired of spending money traded the truck in for a Chevy, the other fixed his by replacing some kind of bushings?? Anyone know what bushings these may be before I get rid of this truck I love so much. I don't need my truck determining my life expectancy. Steering is kinda an important facet of driving!
I too have experienced the Death Shake and dam near died. I have read many stories as to the fix for this problem and will get to that in a bit. Probably the most important thing anyone who actually does care about their life as well as their familys life can do is called public awareness. You all must send letters to the Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau, National Auto Saftey Administration. You need to post ads on Craigslist, WOMF.com (word of mouth forum) and print out flyers and put them on the windshields of every Ram truck you see in a parking lot warning people of the dangers that are without a question, going to kill some innocent family if it hasn't already happened somewhere without the real cause known. The goal is a class action lawsuit to have the problem fixed at the expense of Dodge Chrysler.
I have read so many stories of people attempting to fix these problems on their own at the tune of up to $2500 but it's not YOUR responsibility!!! Sooooo many people have replaced parts like the stabelizer steering shock, removed lift, smaller tires, steering dampner, Extra hard shocks, tie rods, pitman arm, ball joints, stabelizer bar, new steering gear, cv joint on axle and there have even been some who claim they had a fix though short lived. The two things that I have seen over and over that appear to work are the replacement of the steering box stabelizer or the track bar. Now some have said they replaced the track bar but it didn't work so I have to wonder if it was Dodges cheap ass fix with the rubber bushings or what. The one that seems to work is the Thurenfab track bar that anyone can replace themselves in about 10 minutes and runs just under $300.
Personally, I have no intention of replacing anything. To me, it is principle, not money. I will personally be one of Dodges worse nightmares. When I drive by the dealer and see someone looking at a Ram I will stop and tell them to research the Dodge Death Shake before buying. I wonder how many of you wish you would have known before you bought? I have no fear of making an effort or making a difference. I have no compassion for those who sit and whine, hopeing someone else will do their dirty work. I do have a fear of someone getting killed, knowing it could have been avoided had someone had the balls to do something because Dodge Chrysler sure doesn't care if you die or not. Their engineers know about the problem and they also know how to fix it.
I OWN A 2006 2500 LARAMIE MEGA CAB I HAVE THE DEATH WABBLE AT 35 MP AND HIGHER I TOOK IT TO DODGE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM 5 MONTHS AGO AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE TIE RODS. THEY REPLACED ONE AT THE TIME I BOUGHT THE TRUCK AT THAT TIME I DIDNT KNOW THERE WAS A ISSUE WITH THIS THE TRUCK HAS 35, 000 MILES ON IT AND ONLY 5, 000 SINCE I BOUGHT IT YESTERDAY I DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT ABOU THIS DEATH WABBLE. I CALLED DODGE CORPORATE AND DOT THEY ARE BOTH AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THEY WILL NOT RECALL ANY TRUCKS UNTIL THEY GET ENOUGH COMPLAINTS THE DEALERSHIP WANTED TO CHARGE 914.00 TO FIX BUT DROPPED THE PRICE DOWN TO 321.00 AFTER I TOLD THEM THAT THE STERRING STABILIZERS ARE 2 WEEKS OLD SO THST TELLS ME THAT THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. BUT THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE PEOPLE COMPLAINING TO DOT AND DODGE TO GET A RECALL ON THESE DEATH MACHINES
Dodge will screw with you on this. There is a service recall for this problem. The only way mine was fixed was ordering a whole new steering linkage "KIT" that is heavier duty. This problem can be any all the problems listed above individually as well as minor defects in all of them combined. I actually wrecked my truck because of this and was told there was nothing left that would prove my case because everything was damaged going through the telephone pole and concrete wall. The Dodge service manager informed me "OFF THE RECORD" dodge is aware of the "death wobble" but won't acknowledge it as anything other than front end vibration. You can find these videos on you tube: type in DODGE DEATH WOBBLE and there are several videos showing it
I have a 03 Dodge Ram. I have the same problem decribed on the statements above. 8-9 months ago I was driving on the freeway and hit a bump and the the truck front end went wobbling where I thought something had broken. I was able to stop, check everything, but nothing was found. Eversince that first incident, the truck has been doing this death wabble. I have taken the truck in to the dealer and spend more money than I can afford, but the problem is still there. Why hasn't Dodge done anything to recall the trucks with this problem and get them fix. Is there a legal office I can reprot this problem to and take note of the problem so in case something happens I have something to fall back on? Please advise thanks,

I have purchased a new 2011 3500 mega cab longhord 4x4. The truck has had a vibration since day one. It also has a loud clunking noise when you let off gas at low speeds and when you give it gas again. Definitely in drive train. The steering wheel also shakes when you go over large bumps. The truck has been a total nightmare. I have only owned it for a month and has been in shop 4 times for problems and still needs to go back for all the problems. Every time it went to dealer it came back with the problem not fixed and more damage to truck. They scratched all four alcoa wheels balancing them. They told me they detailed it for me! Yeah they sure did, they put some nice scratches in bumper and some on mega cab side along with a nice ding on side. So not only do i still have to have problems fixed, I also probably have to have paint work done on new truck. I just filed for the lemon law because of all the headaches. I would not recommend anyone buying from Dodge. They have gone down hill and my reason being that I have the same exact truck, but I bought it in 2006. This has been the best truck I have ever owned and has never given me any problems. I am so lucky I never traded it in on this piece of crap......Buyers Beware
l have a 05 Dodge 1 ton with the death shake also, l have had it into Dodge and they just want$$$ they said to put the heavier front end in $$$. the front end has been checked out and found no problems. Don't drive over 45 km and stay in a straight line ?? l do like the truck, l may have to put a Cummins in a Ford Or Chev??? Any info let me know.

"Front end wobble"
I would take your truck to a front end shop. These guys are better at checking each joint. The good ones can spot a mm of wobble. Mud tires are hard to ballance, too much rubber on too lg a diameter is asking for problems. I have 05 ram 2500 diesel, pull 17k trailer with tractor 75mph. truck is rock solid steady. Try to leave a window down and buy premium trailer tires, I have had 1/2 dozen trailer tires blow, cannot feel it at all. I see it in a mirror or hear it. The truck is steady on rail driving through it. As far as design flaw, I dont know, but the guy checking the front end needs to know. Alignment guys are better than your general mechanic for front end.
