| 2002 Ram 1500 heater blower continues to run after ignition switch turned offMy 2002 Ram 1500 heater blower continues to run once the ignition switch is turned off. This use to not happen. I tried to locate a blower relay but there is nothing marked in the fuse/relay box as blower relay. The a/c and heater work fine otherwise and will cut off if control is turned to off. I would like to know if there is a relay for the blower and where it is. Otherwise any advice is helpful. (I have run my battery down a few times now when I don't remember to cut the blower off.) |
#101/20/09 15:02Scott Barry | I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.9 liter. My question has to do with the Heater and Defrost. Everything works fine with Defrost/Heater for about a Hour then the vents stop blowing warm air. I can hear the blower working but no air movement. It happens in Defrost and dash vents but when I switch it to the floor it will blow then. I hope someone out there has a idea what the problem could be. |
| Gerald, I had the same problem with my '02 Ram with only 20k miles on it and the accessories remaining on after removing the key. The solution was a new ignition switch replaced by the dealer. The key and electronic switch are 2 separate parts so you won't have to rekey the ignition when completed. Prior to the repair, I could push in on the ignition switch to get the accessories to turn on/off. Even after the new switch was installed, I can still push the switch in/out when in the accessory position and get the radio display to turn on/off. Not sure if that was a purposeful design by Dodge or an inherent problem. |
| HI: I have a 2006 Ram. The AC and Heat works fine but when I turn the blower on, ever to top speed, it gives just a little wind. When I bought the truck new and did this, it would near blow me out of the truck. Is there something I can do to fix this or is it a matter for the garage. It ran out of warranty about 6 months ago. Thanks |
| My 2005 Dodge Ram Diesel had a problem . When the key was turned off and the key removed the blower fan would stay running. When I would twist the key a slight amount the fan would stop running. The dealer said the switch was bad and the wire harness to it was melted . I found no recall for this problem . Has this been a problem with other truck owners ? Should Dodge be responsible ? You guessed it right I have 54000 miles on this truck . |
#510/30/09 18:05Eric Pedersen | There is a recall for July 2001 to July 2002, although this seems to happen to everyone for years after. I suggest you keep your receipt and once enough people file complaints the recall will be expanded. |
#601/26/10 10:25Charles Owens | Reply to #4 and #5 I also have the same problem as you have described. At the time I had 59, 000 miles on my Dodge 2500 diesel and as you might guess they refused to fix it under the manufacture warranty, nor would my extended warranty through Fidelity (maybe they knew something I didn't). Anyways, who do I report the problem to for a possable recall later? |
#702/02/10 11:02Charles Owens | The ignition problem on the dodge 2500 diesel is the wires are melting together and costs about $80.00 to replace. There will be no recall either since it is not considered a safety hazard...at least until one of them catch on fire! |
| I have 2005 Ram 1500. Air blows through defroster in all modes. Can not shut off except when fan is off....Has anyone experienced this problem? |
#903/22/10 12:08Ray Wright | I have the same problem with my 2003 Ram 1500. The fan motor continues to run with the key in the off position or the key out of the ignition. I have went to the truck to find a dead battery on more than one occasion. (Dodge should have a recall for this). But will they, probably not. |
#1003/24/10 12:14Charles Owens | Maybe I should clearify..the blower staying on when the key is out of the ignition is because wires that have melted together inside the steering column. You can by and repair it yourself for about $40. It is a plug and play wire about 5 inches in length with plug-in on both ends. Yes that is correct, just pull the steering column panel underneth and you will see the wires that have melted together. Apparently it has been a problem for awhile and dodge continues to ignore it. Got ME! |
| Does anyone know the part number for this wire and if it is a dealer only part or can it be bought from any auto parts store? |
| Would the melted wires cause the radio to keep playing after the ignition key is removed? My husband's 2006 Ram is doing this. Thanks for anyone's help! Hate to take it to the dealership if we can fix it ourselves. |
| Reply to #10. Did you splice the wires back together or buy a new harness? If you bought a new harness, where did you get it? |
#1408/24/10 14:25mike lipford | 2002 dodge ram pickup heater/air blower works but no air comes out anywhere what could be the cause of this |
| my question is on my 2003 dodge ram 1500 is i just had the blend doors replaced and with the heater on i am getting no heat from the defroster vent, only through the front vent at 120 & at the floor vent at 115 and gets even hotter when driving, get 135 front vent & 125 at the floor, my saturn gets like 140 just sitting in park, is it because it's a compact car, and what about my defrost & the heat working better while driving in my dodge truck, IS THIS NORMAL, ??? thanks mark |
| I have a Dodge Durango 2002 and when we first got it was working fine to our knowledge, next thing you know the blower stop working. We took it to serveral people and they all said the same thing, we needed a wire harness. Well we priced one and it was $287 for the part thruogh the dealership. Does anyone know if I can get it from somewhere else cheaper? |
| i have a 2002 dodge pickup the defrost blows cold air only I, m told there is a door in defrost that won't open to give hot air, they want to charge me 700.0 to fix is there an cheaper way to fix |
