the tank overfilled and splashed water every where.
The car was on, but when I check the spark plug to see if it got wet, the car turned off, now it does not want to turn on
what happened? do I need to take to the mechanic or should I wait until it dries
|I have a '96 xli. First it would cut off the engine while I was going down the road and then start back up before I knew what was going on. Now it stays shut off but will usually start back up after a couple minutes. Seems to act up more in stop and go traffic.This morning it did it again except it was dark out and I found out that the lights ( even the dash lights ) go down to a dim glow when this happens, but after a few minutes it is like nothing was wrong. The longest it went without starting back up was approx. 15-20 minutes. HELP!!!|

Key appears to function except starter does not engage,
Cluster lights do not come on, Radio has lighted time with no radio and no CD. No codes, no sounds. Good battery, electric windows work, electric locks work, lights work except turn signals, hazard signals work. Everything was fine when parked.
Please, anyone have help?

|I HAVE 97 SEBRING CONVERTIBLE .I OPEN THE RADIATOR COVER ONCE I FORGOT TO TIGHTEN IT BACK AFTER ABOUT 5-10 MILES LATER WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IT SHE SAW THE SMOKE COMING OUT, I FOUND OUT IT WAS THE RADIATOR COVER WAS LOOSE SO IT WAS LOSEING COOLENT, I PUT ALMOST 3 1/2 QUARTS OF COOLENT AND TIGHTEN IT BACK NOW AFTER A MONTH OR SO IT LOOKS LIKE IT OVERHEAT A LITTLE BIT.THIS IS OUR ONLY COMMUTE , WHAT COULD BE WRONG, PLEEEEEASE HELP.|
I have a 1997 Chrysler Sebring convertible only owner. Has little over 60 thousand miles on it. I take very good care of it. It has just started at times not wanting to start. Just plain dead. I try for a few times to turn it over and then it will start. No pattern to it at all. Had it look at and no one has any idea. It does not do it all the time but I am not sure when it will happen. I sure could use some ones help. Thank You
|My 97 Sebring Convertible trip computer worked until 2years ago when I started getting CCD appearing. I recently replaced the computer and low and behold the replacement has the same CCd message appearing. Somepne please help.|
|Hello I have a 1996 Sebring v6. It will not start. Instrument panel lights up, lights come on, but it does not turn over. just does nothing with the key turned. I pulled the starter but it checked out to be good. Cleaned the connections and still nothing will not even boost off. I was going to change the cable out and still will. I bought a starter relay and found where its supposed to be under the center counsel but its not the same. Is there another place the relay could be? Only other thing I can think to try is changing out the ignition switch. Do you have any suggestions? |
|1997 sebring convertible. 20 amp ignition fuel starter fuse (located next to ecu in engine) keeps blowing out when key is turned. car starts sometimes but then blows out. I know there is a short somewhere but i have no idea where to start the pin pointing. Anyone know of this problem? Thank you.|
|I JUST bought a car from a buddy of mine about 2 days ago. Car was VERY well kept clean inside and out. Tonight I was trying to start it and its not turning over. All I get is "click" "click" when I turn the key. Everything turns on like the radio, lights, even covertable top. Its not the battery because I had that checked and its STRONG. What could it be??|
|hellow i have a 96 sebring lxi the car started acting if it had no fuel then it shut off on me an never started again i have changed everything from crank sensor, dis, checked voltage from dis an still nothing. i do have 12 volts going to dis but no spark is coming out of dis. if anyone knows what else i can do e-mail me back or feel free to contact me at 3219464367. thanks|
|I have a 1997 sebring convertible JXI and the car has gone into "theft mode", horn blowing, lights flashing and I cannot get it to go off using the remote. my door locks never did work with a key so I can't insert the key to try to stop it. I have to take the battery cable off to get it to quit blowing. Anyone know how to tell me to get it out of theft mode so I can start the car? My car has run good for over 250, 000 miles on original engine and one new transmission in 2002. It has been a great car.....|

|Hello, everybody, I have a '96 Chrysler Sebring, had a front crash, it wasnt that bad, it got more damage on the driver side, and I believe I can most likely straighten that part, which is the front head light holder. The thing is that I don't have another sebring to check how it should look, or serve as a guide to follow and leave it unbent as it was before. I'm looking for a book or picture of a sebring where I can get this reference. |

|1997 Chrysler sebring convertible was involved in a frt end collision. Now vehicle never wants to start. We have to jump start it almost every time. If it runs for awhile and shut it off, you have a 50/50 chance of it restarting when you get back in. We have replaced the battery twice thinking this was the problem. We brought it to the mechanic who's initial thought was a bad battery.|
The dash board has issues with lights, odometer doesn't light up and other things as well. Please help me solve this problem. I love the car but haven't been able to use it much unless I travel with a jumper box which we purchased so we can use our convertible.

Newman. The scanner results indicated a bad oxy. sensor and
Ing. primary / secondary ing. coil failure. The car ran for
about a week then failed completely. Has anyone found a solution

|Im haveing a problem w/ my sebring, the ac compressor locked up on me the other day and at the same time without knowing the serpintine belt snaped. I replaced both belts and installed a new compressor. Trouble is now when i go to start it it almost acts like it skipped time!!! The starter engages and it turns over but it sounds like there is no fire. What could be the cause of this??? I popped the top timeing cover off and found a small pice of belt inside! Could it have skipped time???? Someone HELP|
|This is to all the people who have been having problems getting the car to start. Engine turns over, but won't start. This probably happened after the engine stalled, or while you were driving, and the engine quit as if it were out of gas. Also, you notice that the gas gauge shows plenty of gas and the onboard computer shows that you have a while to go on that tank.|
This is your fuel pump.
Check out the link above for recalls. There is a recall on the fuelpump. I had mine replaced and now it works fine.
|My 97 Sebring Convertable wouldn't. It would blow the 20 amp fuses under the hood. My mechanic found the problem on my car and it could be someone else's problem also. Please check the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE next to the manifold. These cars have an automatic system shutdown on it when it senses a short somewhere on it. I hope this information will help someone else.|
|My 99 Sebring Convertible has 89, 000 miles and has been reliable. Suddenly it dies out, like I had no gas? Filled her up and next day more cut outs. There was NO CHECK ENGINE on the dash. I tried to get error codes with ignition key, on-off-on-off-on, but no luck here. After stalling out, the car would restart immediately. But 2 days later situation got worse and after cut out, the engine would crank OK but not start. I walked home and returned to the car when it was cold. Now it starts and I get it home. Next day I drive to Iowa Auto and hook up the code reader terminal. It says clearly, CRANK POSITION SENSOR. I buy an after market sensor for $60 and get it installed for $90. My life is back to normal. I am disappointed with Chrysler that my Check Engine Light(which I confirmed is working) did not show up on the dash to indicate that I had a new error code. |
|WOW! There are others going through the same thing as me... I have a 2000 chrysler sebring tha I have had so many issues with stemming from about a year ago. I remember reading some horror stories of people draining $ into their cars and still the problem is not fixed. My car stalls while driving, sitting at a light, on the freeway, or wherever I drive under any weather condiotions. Randomly some days are better than others. my car has been to $ different mechanics who all seem to be puzzled. I have had a fuel system cleaning($125), replaced the dist. w/ cam/ crankshaft sensors($600), and a diagnostic test ran ($100)... NOTHING. I am sick of being stranded but car is almost paid off and now I just want to get to the bottom of the issues. Someone please help!! E-mail Klchinn212000@aol.com with help!!|
|My 97 Sebring has been showing a CCd error on the travel computer. I looked in the owner's manuel, but that code isn't given anywhere! Anybody know what that means?? Also, while driving the other night, the security alarm light came on. What??! I had already been driving for over 60 miles (home from the beach)when the light went on. No horn or engine shutoff, just the indicator light. I guess that could be a loose wire somewhere as the display on the radio goes on & off too.|
|i have a 97 chrysler sebring with 169, 00 miles on it..i took a vacation from mississippi.. i was down there for two weeks.. getting ready to go in one day.. driving down the street my lights started to dim and then my car went dead.. a friend jumped it then took it to the house.. the next morning getting ready to go.. the car would again not start.. jumped it.. it was fine for about 30 seconds then cut off again.. still wont start.. went to firestone they said it was the starter.. got that replaced and still nothing.. when i try to start it up the only thing that goes on is the brake light.. and the brake is off.. i had to catch the bus back to illinois and leave my car in mississippi.. can somebody please help me.. my lights come on and my alarm works but my convertible top wont go up and it still wont start at all.. can somebody pleeaassee help me..!!!|

|I just picked up a 97 Sebring with 67, 000 miles on it. With the exception of 2 problems the thing seems to works ok. First, most times when I first start it, it will die. It will always start up again, and usually keep running after that. |
The other problem is that when running (at any speed), it will randomly miss/jerk. It's like it will hickup, but then continue on. It has never quit running, and may go a day or two with nothing, but then it happens again.
I've noticed a couple of similar issues above, but I didn't see a solution. If anyone has had and solved something like this, please let me know.
