Concerning timing belt on 1999 & 2000 3.5 v/6if the timing belt breaks does the engine just stop or does it do engine damage like breaking the valves? Also when should the belt be changed & how much should it cost.

you do have a "interferance engine" wich basically means that if the belt break the valves can be damaged but this is not always the case as i have replace a timing belt on a 2000 300m that did break but the valves were not damaged because the customer was coming to a stop when it broke a higher speeds your almost gauranteed putting a new engine in if it breaks , now the book says 120, 000 for service on that belt but my customers broke at 80, ooo so it all depends on driving conditions i always recomend 60, 000 but no more than 75, 000 so your covered hope that helped

Per Chrysler, the timing belt should be replaced at 105k miles. I was quoted 1600.00 at my local Chrysler dealer. This included the water pump fan belt and fluids. My local mechanic quoted me 900.00 for the same service.
