99 Chevy Tracker instrument light short

I just bought a 99 Chevy Tracker.I got it home and found out that the instrument panel lights are showing a short somewhere.

Has anyone had to trace down a short on one of these toys?

I have found out that it is shorted a bad enough that the instrument panel Dimmer switch has burnt up. I can't get a signal with an OHM meter thru the switch.

If I try to hotwire the switch it pops the fuse.

So I feel confident that it has a short between the dimmer switch and the dash lights somewhere.

The parking lights still work because of the dimmer switch being bad.(or open)

I live in Southern Ohio
