I need to replace my wife's rear end on her V1500 Suburban 4x4. It is a 1990 and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what years are compatible with hers as I plan on going to a junkyard to find one. Thanks for the help.

I have a 1985 Chevy 1ton crewcab dually that has a 10 bolt rear end with 4:10 gear ratio. it has a 4 speed manual transmission. I want to make this truck a highway cruiser and not a stump puller. I want really tall gears and the most cost effective way to achieve this. Can U help me. I was thinking gears maybe in the 3:21 or at most 3:42.range.Thanks, Darrell

i replaced my rear in a 99 suburban 1500.you have to run the vin number thru a chevy dealer to find out your ratio. mine was a 3.42 and 6 lug wheels. make sure the lugs are the same if you are replacing the whole rear when you go to the junk yard. i had a problem finding the ratio on the rear itself usually printed on a metal tag or on top of the axle. good luck
