umm im 16 and my dad just gave me a 1986 chevy sprint and it does the exact same thing, it idles on high at first but after it gets warmd up it just dies, my uncle is a mechanic and he said somthing about the floats in the carbureator are sticking and the carb is not getting gas, he said just to buy another carbureator and that should work but they are kinda exspensive , or just have someone experienced in that area to take it apart and clean it real good, but a few other things ive heard is there could be a hole in your vacume line, or there could be sometihng in your fuel line stoping your gas from coming through, the carb i got on mine is a 1 barrel but my friend said you can put a 4 barrel or any kind on in replacement as long as the mounts on it are the same, i realy dont know much about cars but i hoped i helped you in some way
