fault code P0420 - Chevrolet-S10 Pickup
fault code P0420i have a 2000 s10 that failed inspection today because of fault code p0420....i was told by inspection station that that usually means oxygen sensor on manifold... i dont want to spend 40 or more $$ and that not be the problem. is ther a way for me to know for sure?

|what does code po420 mean on an '01 chevy cavalier?|
|I have 3 different codes pop up on a scanner they are PO442, PO420, and PO740. Does anyone have any idea what these could be caused by? PLease let me know. My truck wont start it just sputters and then dies.|
|Code P0420 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threashold. This could be a worn out(damaged) catalyst.|
Code P0442 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak (Small) This could be a defective gas cap. Not sure.
Code P0740 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Stuck On. This one sounds like you should have your trans checked. Any problems there?
|just put a brand new converter on my s10 blazer and i still have code p0420|
|2000 s10 wont start, dead battery but before bat. died would try to start i.e. engine would crank but not turn over. Do you need a certain amount of amps in battery for truck to start?|
|new cat converter and replaced all o2 sensors at same time. Still get P0420 code|
| I HAVE TWO 1996 S10 BLAZERS , AND BOTH HAVE THE DREADED PO420 CODE.I HAD PUT A BRAND NEW CHEVY LONGBLOCK IN ONE, AND THE OTHER HAS A FEW MILES ON IT. I HAD PUT AN AFTERMARKET CONVERTER ON BOTH AT THE SAME TIME THESE PROBLEMS CAME UP.ALL O2 SENSORS WERE REPLACED. I, VE BEEN TOLD THAT YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO PUT A FACTORY CONVERTER ON OR YOU GET THIS DAMN CODE.I HAVE TRIED MANY THINGS , BUT CAN, T GET RID OF IT ON EITHER VEHICLE.ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS?|
