Chevrolet-S10 Pickup -
Transmission Fault

Only after being on the freeway for several miles and once I exit the transmission then jerks into 2nd gear and soon after the Check engine soon light comes on. The code is a transmission fault but I forgot the exact code. Once I stop (20 min) it shifts like new again.

What you have is a CODE 1870. That is caused by torque converter (TCC) slippage. This is caused by a worn clutch in the converter or a bad seal on the input shaft. It will use a little more fuel but run a long time with the 1870 code.
