When I was driving on the freeway up a steep hill in Drive, I accidentally shifted to 1st and then 2nd and the engine began to make a "clanky" noise.

Now every time I start it, it makes that noise. I think it might be the transmission. I know I'm not being very specific but I am not sure how to approach this.

(I was told it might just be the flywheel.)

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

I had my transmission replaced about ten months ago at main street garage here in tooele, ut. Just the other day the transmission went out again. i was driving down the road and came to a stop light. Once the light turned green i pressed the gas peddle and i heard this buzzing sound really loud, i then started to lose speed. i parked it at a gas station and checked all the necessities right. So i turn the blazer back on with no problem. when i try to put it in reverse, it wont go.

So i take it back to " JOE" the mechanic. works on it and then does the test drive. it started leakin and still ran funny they said. So now they tell me they fixed the reverse problem and the leakin but something is wrong in the tranny eletrically.WHAT COULD THAT BE? I DON'T WANT TO GET BURNED AND I AM FURUSTRATED TO NO END. HELP!!!

OH YEAH..... I DONT THINK THAT YOUR PROBLEM IS THE TRANNY. bOTH TIMES I DROPPED MY TRANNY THERE WAS A LOUD POP OR BUZZING SOUND. THEN THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE VERY FAST AND IT DEFINETLY WONT GO INTO REVERSE. tHE FLY WHEEL ISNT CHEAP BUT THAT MIGHT BE YOUR TRUCKS PROBLEM.

I have a 1996 chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 116, 000 miles aitomatic

put in drive a I here noise in tranny but not grinding, when it shifts into 2nd it goes away, I can also hear it when it goes into reverse

my truck makes a ticking/knocking noise coming from the engine when im driving. it also has a hard time starting every day. it takes a few seconds to start up all the time. it hesitates. some one said the starter could be going or the alternater. i replaced the alternator 2 years ago.

please advise.
