98 S-10 ard to start

I let a so called mechanic talk me into changing out the throttle position sensor. Before I changed the TPS, the truck would start at a touch of the key. After changing, it takes about 15 cranks to fire up. I smell gas at start-up also. First thing in the morning, the truck starts right up. But after heat up, its terrible.
