98 S10 chevy pick-up, Loses all electrical powerMy s10 will lose all electrical power, at any speed, I may be driving. Did find a fuse blown onced, but couldn"t find, what caused it to blow. Happen again recently, just bagging out my driveway. Lost all power(electrical) looked in fuse box, couldn't find a fuse blown. Power mysteriously came back on. I am now afraid to drive, I don't want to get stranded.

If everything quits including lights, check your positive lead, which is the little wire that connects to the positive terminal with the big wire. Check the terminals on the little wire at both ends. I'm not sure if this wire is a fusible link. If it is, you'll need to replace it if it is blown. If it works intermitantly it's more likely to be the end close to the battery

|Have Chevy S10, put in a new battery, alternator checks good, battery won't charge. Gauge showing battery charge shows low, doesn't change no matter how long you drive or rev the engine, got any ideas?|

Last night with a half tank of gas it stalled and will not start. Today When "Tested" a few things. I found I have no spark, No fuel pump hum and the wires to the fuel pump look good. the truck has 160, 000 miles and I keep it in really good condition.
What could be the trouble.-?
|now if someone re-does a clutch then shortly after the slave cylinder goes out should i be concerned?, i mean shouldnt of that mechanic spotted this or or is it no way????|
|i have a 99 s10 and thewipers statrted to slow down were to now they crawl and even on the high setting its super slow, could it be the motor or somthing in the delay system or is the delay system in the motor ty|
|if you lose all power and truck will not start, if this happens while you are driving... i had the same problem with mine, turns out it was the CRANK and CAM sensors.. turns out when one of them goes it will shut the truck off because it has no timing... |

|95 chevy s10. After warm up, charge light comes on and engine shuts off, will start back up right away and then shut off again after another mile or so. alternator and batery good, all connections clean and tight. WHAT NEXT?|
|i have a 1998 s-10 that will drive ok for a couple of days then the gauges go crazy and the truck starts spitting and sputtering. the service engine light comes on but its a different fault each time. what could be my problem? thanks merle|
|My '98 S10 2.2 would suddenly shut down. Put on mind reader and showed bad map sensor. I installed new sensor and truck ran fine again for a week and then did the same thing. Any advice? Thanks|
|1998 s10 with a 2.2 liter motor is that an interference motor will the pistons hit the valves if timing chain breaks|

|I have a 94 s10, the motor is supposed to be newer, I can't verify this. The last 3 months check engine light came on and off. The last week the motor looses power, smells like fuel, the motor then runs normal again. It drives great for some miles, start bogging down, then all of a sudden it takes off.Thank-you|

|I HAD THE PROBLEM OF 2.2 ENGINE LOOSING POWER AND MISSING BAD AND FUEL SMELL COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. fIRST i TOOK IT TO FIRESTONE, THEY SAID I HAD TO REPLACE THE EGR VALVE, HIGH MILAGE OIL CHANGE, FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE, AND REPLACE TIMING CHANGE, AT A COST OF OVER $1, 500.00.I COULDN'T PAY THAT, BOTTOM LINE I STARTED MY ON DIAGNOSTIC, I CHANGED THE EGR, EGR SOLENOID, CLEANED EGR CHAMBER, ENGINE STILL RAN ROUGH, SMELLED GAS. I STARTED CHECKING FOR BAD PLUG WIRES, WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING I WAS PUSHING ON THE WIRES AT THE COIL PACK, THE FRONT COIL AS I PUSHED ON IT, THE ENGINE PICKED UP SPEED AND RAN BETTER. I KEPT DOING THAT, BOTTOM LINE I CHECKED THE TIGHTNESS OF THE MOUNTING SCREWS BOTH SCREWS TURNED A 1/4 TURN, THE ENGINE BEEN RUNNING SMOOTH RVER SINCE.IT WASN'T GETTING ENOUGH FIRE.DON'T ALWAYS GO WITH WHAT THE PROFESSIONALS SAY IS THE PROBLEM. DO YOUR OWN DIAGNOSIS.|
|Our truck did same thing just compleatly dying could be stoped at a light or going down freeway.My husband finilly found a bad wire going into the starter|
|My 2001 Chev S10 Regular cab automatic 2.2 has the same gremlem in the electrical.|
My problems go
1. It will shut down like no fuel any time any where, but more under load climbing a hill accrellating.
2 will try to shut down but if i feather the throttle quickly it will sputter along and then won't work properly until I shut the truck off and re-start.
3 when I jump on the gas to pass a car it hesitates like its starving for fuel and then just shut down. If I put it in neutral and try to re-start it wil not until I stop, shut the key off and on at least 3 to ten times and then it will start.
4 If I am running on a rural route doing 50 K it will just shut down. If I place it in neutral and try to restart it starts first roll over.
Replaced the fuel pump and still no fixes Please help if you found an answer. I WILL TRY THE COKE TRICK AND check my ground and wire to the starter. Thank you

Once about every 3 times I press on the gas it hesitates like its starving for fuel and and the truck starts spitting and sputtering. The service engine light comes on as well.
|1997 4.3 s10 start up fine then dies when and where ever it wants. sometimes it starts back up with or w/o starting fluid then die shorty after, then there are times it won't start at all. come some hours later it might start up fine. i have replace plugs, wires, igntion mod, ign coil, camshaft sen, iac, throttle pos sen, maf, map and egr valve.|

suddenly the engine shuts off, safely get out of traffic lanes. try to crank the engine over, nothing... like a dead battery?? about 20 minutes goes by and varoom your off and going again, at least for a few minutes, then the engine shuts off... What the...
this one was very tricky.. when the engine compartment is hot and current is flowing in all circuits the electrical wires get how also. the main culprit to the above senario is the positive lead from battery to the power distribution box. it gets hot from the above mentioned reasons, the wire resistance(see note 1)becomes to high in resistance and appears to be an open thus current cannot flow. there is voltage but no current in an open circuit so you will measure 12v on the power distribution box but the amount of current is minimal or to low to support the electronic engine control module.
note 1 you cannot use ohmmeter, a current meter is more applicable
note 2. you can bet your service professional wants to make money like buyer beware, knowledge will save you money
