fuel pumptruck wont start checked fuel pressure it was 40 psi and the book calls for 55 to 62 psi rebuilt fuel pump had been instaled before pressure was checked. fuel pump bad or is their another problem? thanks for any help.

|I have a 99 s10 4 cylinder. My low beams will not turn on, but the high's will. Ive replaced all the fuzes and still nothing. Any clues on what it might be? My fuel pump also went out. Will a 94 s10 fuel pump work?|
Just got redeployed back to the states a few weeks ago. 1992 Chevy S-10. Ran great, didnt do a darn thing to the truck even though it sat for a whole year.
But on this day, drove it to work in the AM, perfect.
Evening time, jumped in, cranked it over, and it continued cranking. After several cranks and rest time in-between it started trying to turn over, sputtering and spitting heavy white exhaust.
Anytime I would not pump the gas, it would immediatly stop sputtering and stall.
Now, I gave up for the night. After reading the forum I see a lot of people tackling; fuel pump, distributor cap, sending unit, ECM switch / fuse.
Let me know what you guys think.

|i got a 2001 chevy s10 pickup with a 2.2 liter. punctured the gas tank and replaced it. then when jsut normal driving accelerating jsut hard enough to maintain speed it would die every 5-10 miles. i replaced the fuel filter and it ran ok for 2 days. then it started doing it again. replaced the relay and same issues. replaced the fuel pump ran fine for about 60miles in one trip. then started doing it again. seems to be ok and start right up after sitting overnight for 20miles or so but then dies and takes about a minute to restart. after about the second time it will die like every mile allmost, barely got home. what the heck is going on?|
|I have a 99 chevy s 10 ..We have put a new fuel pump new relay and fuel filter mind you we found out the first pump wasnt bad after we was already changing it.the pump doesnt always come on i brake down alot cuz the pump just stops pumping that where wiring straight helps to get home.we have checked ground wire and cleaned it good no brakes in the wire.if we hook straight to battery ground and pos. then it will start running has to be both neg and pos. motor runs great when it runs its just the pump doesnt work half the time other half work great.what am i missing?i have put it in the shop they said it would have to have the problem there to see what is wrong of course it runs fine then but i leave shop and pump stops running|
|I am working on an 89 S10 pick-up. The fuel pump acts like its working but will not crank up, It works immediatly after using fast start. any suggestions would be helpful.|

|I have a 2000 S10 pickup. Two years ago it died going down the road. Two fuel pumps were installed back to back, but that didn't solve the problem. Finally found a shorted wire in the wiring harness to the fuel pump. Now, I'm having the same problem, new fuel filter, new fuel pump, wiring harness checked and today after leaving the mechanic garage it died again. I can try to start it ten times in a row and it won't start, but it may start on try #11 or 23 and then run for a day or so only to die again. When it dies, it doesn't sputter, it just looses power. Any ideas on what my problem might be?|
|your fuel pressure regulator is built right in to your fuel filter on the fuel filter it should have two ports on one side of the filter and one port on the other side|
|My truck ran great when my dad dropped me off at work but after he got back to the house he shut it off...when he went to go pick a friend up it started right up but on the way back it died and didnt want to start...we put a new fuel pump on it but it just sits and cranks over and doesnt want to start but we have power goin from the battery to the pump and all the fuses are good...we usually kno wats wrong but this problem has us stumped...any ideas? I need the truck for next week hopefully I can get a answer back...thx|

|I have a 98 s10 with 2.2L was driving to work and it cut out 2 times then died and would not start. tried starting fluid and it started right up changed fuel pump and the fuel pump still wont come on changed relay still noting. checked the four pin wire connector and the grey wire is hot black ground and two purple wires for the gas guage one hot one ground what else can i check to find out why the pump is not running ?|
|Hi all. i have a 95 S10 2.2 4banger. a few months ago i had a Clogged Cat Converter, I had to cut it out and it ran fine for about 3 months then started sputtering and just dogging out when I step on the gas. It idles fine though. Its just when I try and go from a stop then it goes down the road fine.. It was just happening intermittently but now its all the time. Iv replaced the fuel filter and took the tank off thinking there was crap in it but it was clear. Plugs wires. All the basic stuff. The pump comes on and it starts right up, Its only when Im starting out from a stop. it idles fine, then if I can get into second gear its fine.. What the heck? Any help? please |
I also and I can smell gas. Actually I smell gas in the cab sometimes. it smells like OLD gas. And thatís only sometimes.

|Changed Fuel Pump 2002 Chevy S10 Have no ground to fuel pump, bypassed relay and get powder to pump but still no ground. Any idea? I have taken the bed off the truc kto access the pump and have not replaced yet so electrical is still not connected to the tail lights, would this cut off the fuel pump thinking i was in an accident ? Checked fuses all good and relay. truckwill crank but still not getting fuel i think because pump can not turnon without ground, also checked security reset.|

|My 91chev. S10 gas guage is not reading. It only says full. The truck can be empty with no gas. I changed out the fuel pump. Still not working.. Can somebody help me....|

|i recently replaced my fuel pump and i pulled the wires outta the 3 wire plug that attaches to the top of pump...any on know the wire sequence to the plug...one green dark grey and light grey.|

I stopped it and it just chugged. I could accelerate it but it soon would drop power and chug.
Now it might or might not start, but if it does start it wont move.
It seem to go into gear alright. But no faster than it would go I dont go past second gear.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT?
Any info or help will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2003 S10 with the 2.2L 4-cylinder and 160, 000 miles. It has the original fuel pump. It recently started to show a lack of power at highway speeds. It wont accelerate up hills at all and barely accelerates on level ground. It idols a little rough too. It starts up right away though. It has new plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc. Does this sound like a fuel pump issue or an exhaust issue like a clogged catalytic converter? I have checked the fuel pressure it was 25psi
fuel pump wont kick on when key is turned on but after cranking the motor over then stop pump will kick on as to repreasureize it. purple wire from fuse box to pump has partical power help?

MY 1995 S10 2.2 I INSTALLED NEW ENGINE TRUCK WONT START UNLESS YOU PUT GAS ON A RAG. I REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER, NEW FUEL PUMP, NEW FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, NEW FUEL PUMP RELAY .MY PROBLEM IS THE ENGINE BLOCK FILLS WITH GAS. AFTER CHANGING EACH PART AT A TIME WE TRY STARTING IT UP IT KEEPS FILLING THE ENGINE BLOCK WITH GAS. DO I NEED TO CHANGE MY COMPUTER, OR JUST TRY A NEW SET OF FUEL INJECTORS, OR COULD IT BE THAT THEY ARE NOT RELIEVEING THE FUEL PRUSSURE BEFORE CHANGING THESE PARTS, I NEED HELP BAD firstname.lastname@example.org

If you replace your fuel pump don't forget to hook up the ground wire that's by the passenger side taillight. Everyone seems to forget this. Without that ground, truck won't run.
