My truck is running horrible...no power...poor gas mileage, smell of unburnt fuel, etc. This all happened one day when I was driving on the highway...I got off and the valve lifters were making lots of noise..so I took it home and changed the oil and added an oil additive to quiet the lifters. But they were still making noise...running fine otherwise, though. so the next day I'm driving on the highway and all of a sudden the clicky lifters stop clicking but the truck starts running rough with a lack of power. I changed the plugs & wires, nothing. I figured out that the number 2 cylinder was not getting spark, because when I pulled the boot off the plug, there was no spark arcing like the other cylinders did. so i changed the ignition coil, just the 1 for the number 2 cylinder, and STILL nothing. I'm about to bring the truck into the shop tomorrow (WHICH I HATE DOING!) unless i can figure it out. Does anyone have any ideas why only the number 2 cylinder isn't getting spark?? Please help, I do not want to pay some huge bill from the auto shop!

welp, I brought the truck to the shop yesterday, after racking my brain until I ran out of ideas. Maybe it's the brain on the truck that's causing the 2nd cylinder to not get spark? We'll see what happens. I just hope that it's something simple that I overlooked, I am NOT looking forward to paying a HUGE BILL from the Auto-Mechanic!! It makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it! I'll post here what the problem was when I get the truck back.

Meanwhile, I am still curious to see what you all think could be the problem. Feel free to commen.

I can't remember if that year has a distibuter cap. if id does that would be a nother cheep replacement check that i did not see you mentioned.

I too own a 1995 chevy S-10 and the thing is starting to crap out on me. It wont start half the time and it dies out on me in the middle of traffic. The service engine light goes on and off all the time and it wont get up to speed. I just need to know what is wrong with it so I can get it fixed because I plan on moving out of state soon and that is my only mode of transportation, any help would be appreciated
