Your message was posted on July 21st and you may have solved the problem by now, but if not here is my contribution. The owners manual for my 2003 Malibu has the following entry under Radio Messages: "LOC (locked)This message is displayed when the THEFTLOCK system has locked up. You must return to the dealership for service." I don't know if this is of any help

I recently had some work done on my 1998 Chevy Malibu. When I got the car back from the mechanic, my radio was locked. I know there is a code to unlock it, but the dealership will charge about $40 for the code...probably more than what my stock stereo is worth. My neighbor suggested coming here to see if someone might have the code and be willing to share it with me. Sooo, does anyone have it??? I need my tunes!

I googled "malibu locked radio" and one of the sponsoring ads is radio-code.com they claim they can supply the code for $20.00.Thats better than the dealer cost

It looks like there are others with my same dilemna. I also found a web site that offers codes for $14.99. However, how do I know it will actually work? I'm a bit skeptical. It's a shame that we may have to pay to have our music back. Like I said before, my stock 1998 radio probably isn't worth the $45 the dealer will charge...maybe not even $14.99. lol Oh well, I'm holding out for the hope that someone will share the code with us. I'll keep checking back.

I just got the code for my radio by calling 1-800-537-5140 and choosing the option for my vehicle make. 1 for chevrolet. then i entered 106010 for the customer # and then entered my serial # from the stereo and it gave me a lock code for free. Now i am just trying to figure out how to enter it since my manual tells me to take it to the dealership.

Hey, Try this link: www.radiounlock.com. I was just on their site looking for a code for my 1998 malibu. They only charge $2.49 and it worked. They sent me the code in less then an hour. I was skeptical at first but, for $2.49 I had to give it a try. Try it, thank me later. Josh

Nicole, I finally got my radio unlocked after checking info on several websites. Now that you have your 4 to 6 digit code, you can enter it by following the these steps. 1. Make sure your ignition is in the "on" position, but no started. 2. Press/Hold the "HR" button to set the first 2 or 3 numbers. 3. Press/Hold the "Min" button to set the next 2/3 numbers. 4. Press the AM/FM button one time. "SEC" should be displayed. You can now turn the radio on. Good luck!

I drive a chevrolet xilverado and i used your dealership code that you posted when i called delco at the 1-800 number. If you hold 2 and 3 for 8 seconds a 3 digit number appears. Immediatly aftwards hold am/fm and another 3 digit number will appear. After typing in the dealership code that you gave me i typed in these two numbers and they gave me a different number to input. All you must do is press the min and hour key until the number that delco gives you is entered. then press am fm key

My Radio is displaying only the time on a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu. It stopped working after changing the battery. I pressed the 2 and 3 buttons. Nothing happens. Its doesn't say loc or anything. I think the Theftlock is only preventing the owners of the vehicles from using the radios.I followed these instructions. I couldn't get pass number 1 - nothing happened HELP GM Theftlock equipped radio/stereo If your GM radio/stereo won't play after you disconnect the battery then the Theftlock is enabled. To remove the Theftlock you have to remove the code in the following manner. (1) Go to your car and insert the key to the ON position (not run). When the radio turns on, press and hold #2 and #3 buttons. After about 10 seconds, three digits will appear on the screen. Write these down. (2) After you have the first three digits, press and release the AM/FM button. Another set of digits will appear on the screen. Write these down. (3) With your new found 6 digit code, go to the telephone and call 1-800-537-5140. It an electronic answering machine. Once the guy finishes talking, press 202108, followed by the *asterisk* button (not pound) (4) He will tell you to enter in your 4 or 6 digit code, followed by the *asterisk* again. So, type in the numbers you got from your radio, and hit *asterisk* (5) He will then tell you your 4 digit UNLOCK code. Write it down. Now go to your car, press and release the "HR" (hour) button until it flashes, then enter in the first 2 digits of your 4 digit code. Next press press the MIN (minute) button and enter the last 2 digits. FOR EXAMPLE: If my code was "1848" I would press the HR button 18 times and the MIN button 48 times. When you are done press AM/FM. The radio is now unlocked. To turn off the Theftlock so you don't have to repeat this process the next time you have a power loss, just repeat the last step -- Pressing HR and MIN to re-enter the code. When its done hit AM/FM, a blank set of 3 hyphens ("--") will appear on the screen. You have disabled Theftlock. I hope you can follow all this--Good luck.

I have a 2003 malibu with a locked radio.... I see the agreement seems to be that reply #16 is correct... however the guy tells me that that particular dealer code is incorrect.. perhaps it was recently closed like most...? Anyone have an up to date dealer code?
