i have a 1997 chevrolet malibu LS. radio is LOC. how do i unlock the radio. dealership wants $80.00, i dont have that kind of money??
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This right here is why I love the internet. I got a 2000 Malibu used about 5 years ago and just now had a complete power loss. Since I got it from an older couple a city far away, there was no way to contact them for the old passcode.
BUT...if you purchased a used car like I did, check EVERY.SINGLE.PAGE of the owner's manual. I looked though the entire book twice before I found a small, handwritten 4 digit code! So guys, check your books...you may get lucky like I did. Thank God the old owners wrote it down in the book.
Anyway, to enter the code I hit:
Then the last two digits of the code, then
and finally I got the code SEC and after a few seconds of waiting, the thing was released.

Our 2005 Malibu radio has been draining the battery because the 6 disk factory cd player keeps trying to spit a cd out and nothing is coming out! Is there a way to take cd's out of the player. All cds are fed in thru on top of the radio. Any ideas?
I have a 2005 chevy Malibu and just the other day there was no power to my radio nor clock. I brought it to a mechanic who was just closing so he only had a quick minute to check it. He said all the fuses were fine and that I would have to bring it back someday to further check out the problem. 2 days go by and the power to the radio came back by itself.
The following day while the radio is on it just locked uP and I wasnt able to turn down the volume nor power it off. I took out the fuse (10 amp) then it shut off. I went to the local auto parts and bought a replacement. At first when I replaced the fuse no power came on but then after 30 minutes of driving the radio started uP again and the clock was flashing 12:00.
Anyone out there experiencing similar problem ?
