Your message was posted on July 21st and you may have solved the problem by now, but if not here is my contribution. The owners manual for my 2003 Malibu has the following entry under Radio Messages: "LOC (locked)This message is displayed when the THEFTLOCK system has locked up. You must return to the dealership for service." I don't know if this is of any help

I recently had some work done on my 1998 Chevy Malibu. When I got the car back from the mechanic, my radio was locked. I know there is a code to unlock it, but the dealership will charge about $40 for the code...probably more than what my stock stereo is worth. My neighbor suggested coming here to see if someone might have the code and be willing to share it with me. Sooo, does anyone have it??? I need my tunes!

I googled "malibu locked radio" and one of the sponsoring ads is radio-code.com they claim they can supply the code for $20.00.Thats better than the dealer cost

It looks like there are others with my same dilemna. I also found a web site that offers codes for $14.99. However, how do I know it will actually work? I'm a bit skeptical. It's a shame that we may have to pay to have our music back. Like I said before, my stock 1998 radio probably isn't worth the $45 the dealer will charge...maybe not even $14.99. lol Oh well, I'm holding out for the hope that someone will share the code with us. I'll keep checking back.

I just got the code for my radio by calling 1-800-537-5140 and choosing the option for my vehicle make. 1 for chevrolet. then i entered 106010 for the customer # and then entered my serial # from the stereo and it gave me a lock code for free. Now i am just trying to figure out how to enter it since my manual tells me to take it to the dealership.

Hey, Try this link: www.radiounlock.com. I was just on their site looking for a code for my 1998 malibu. They only charge $2.49 and it worked. They sent me the code in less then an hour. I was skeptical at first but, for $2.49 I had to give it a try. Try it, thank me later. Josh

Nicole, I finally got my radio unlocked after checking info on several websites. Now that you have your 4 to 6 digit code, you can enter it by following the these steps. 1. Make sure your ignition is in the "on" position, but no started. 2. Press/Hold the "HR" button to set the first 2 or 3 numbers. 3. Press/Hold the "Min" button to set the next 2/3 numbers. 4. Press the AM/FM button one time. "SEC" should be displayed. You can now turn the radio on. Good luck!
