Car Sterio gets louder when accelerating.

I recently purchased a 2001 Chevy Malibu. While driving I realized the faster I go the louder the stereo gets, and when I break it gets so quiet you can hardly hear it. At first I thought it was only because I had my ipod charging and playing at the same time, but when I unplugged the charger part I realized its still doing it.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

It's supposed to do that. you have SCV (speed control volume). there is a ring that goes around the volune knob on your radio, it has a little tab on the left side of the knob, rotate that up or down to adjust the amount of volume you want to add to compensate for road noise.
