Chevrolet-El Camino - 82 El Camino won't work

I have a problem with my 1982 Chevy ElCamino. Last year I started to put headers on it (350 c.i.) but had to quit when winter hit (I don't have a garage) When the weather warmed up, I got out there and finished the job. I was able to get it running, but saw that the alternator belt was loose, so I shut it off and tightened it up. When I tried to restart it, nothing happened. I don't have any electrical power at all, no lights, no turn signals, not even power for the horn. I an not much of a mechanic, so I don't have the slightest idea what is wrong with it. Is there anybody out there who can help me? Just respond to my email if you get a chance. Thanks for your help!

Start from the battery and trace your power wire in search of a loose connection or split. Look for corruption at the battery terminals or possibly your battery can be dead.

check for any power wires running close to your new headers they might have come in contact with the headers an might have burned (starter wires)

I just recently replaced my starter on my el camino but now none of my lights nor my horn works. Any suggestions and are they linked to the starter or solenoid?? I have checked all of my fuses and none of them are blown.

likely your fusible link has cooked off its on the battery side of your starter i believe a 14 guage wire--check sometimes the insulation burns off, then the link blows

I have a 82 El Camino also. I was driving in the rain one day and my windshield wipers and high beams would not go off. The next day when I started the car they still wouldnt go off. Then I noticed a burning smell so I cut the car off and now t does nothing. No power anywhere EXCEPT for the head lights and horn. Nothing else works. I bought a new ECM and that wasnt the problem. What can it be? Does anybody know? I heard that it could be a fusible link but I dont know how or where to check that. Email me at wormburnn@yahoo.com

the wipers quit working on my 1985 El Camino. Would this be a bad wiper motor or other.
