Chevrolet-Blazer - Trouble starting

I have a 2000 Blazer that runs fine in every way but it wont start without a shot of starting fluid. Hot or cold doesn't matter and was random at first (over the last couple months) but is nearly every time now. A friend said it sounds like it could be a fuel pressure regulator so I bought one at advance auto. I dont see anything like it under the hood and the Haynes manual shows something different which it says cannot be changed alone.Oh yea, When it first started doing this it would usually start after several trys, and I would smell fuel like it's flooded or something. I would like to hear some thoughts on this if you have one. I really can't afford to take it to someone right now. Thanks!

The Fuel Pressure Regulator in my Chevy Van 3500, it's in the exhaust manifold. Probably yours is also there.

Nope not there if it is 2000 Blazer with CPI system it is located under the black plenum just below the throttle body. You have to remove the throttle bod first then plenum. Under there you will find your injector control box, the regulater is located on the back side of that held on with a C type clip and a new regu is around $80.00
