put it in (D)drive it goes good. Then after 2nd gear it wont go into 3rd gear just high rpm's. only 1st 2nd, and reverse work fine. what is the problem?

Automatic transmissions are a mystery that defy understanding by any other than qualified experts.

1. Put a pint of "Sea-foam" tunner-upper in transmission fluid filler tube and drive car for a few days. It's real good stuff and should soften up all those old time hardened valve seals.

2. If that doesn't work take the car to a trustworthy (very rare)transmission expert. Go home and wait for him to call you back with the price. Make sure you're sitting down when you take the call because the shock will knock you off your feet.
